Tottenham fury at exit of 'cowardly' Campbell
Sol Campbell prepared to face the wrath of White Hart Lane last night when he joined Arsenal in a move that stunned every Tottenham fan. The England defender accepts that he could be the target of the lunatic fringe after decamp-ing from Spurs on a free transfer to sign for their fiercest rivals in a four-year deal worth £20million. Ironically, his first proper run-out following the switch could be back at Tottenham, with England's August 15 friendly with Holland

Cowardly? LOL, more like idiocy! I'd rather be on a witness protection scheme than involve myself in such an act of lunacy.

If he was cowardly in any way, it was for not testing himself on the continent.

Gav, I follow the spurs but find it a little difficult to understand the absolute hysteria one player can create bt his actions. I read somewhere he was thinking of getting a bodyguard as he had threats made to him. I know I love my sport as much as the next man and on occasion feel like threatening a player if he does something stupid but that is a little extreme. Having said that i'd love to be in the crowd one day at White Hart lane for a match against Arsenal and experience real passion.

Legend, I would be very surprized if Sol Campbell doesn't have some sort of protection.

Tottenham fans are very passionate about (But also the biggest whingers in English football) Their club and hate the Arsenal. There is a significant vocal minority at White Hart Lane who give some Spurs players a hard time. If you don't fit into what they see as the Spursstyle then you'll never win them over, that goes for managers too, George Graham! He never had a chance with them, he commited the ultimate crime of playing for and managing the Gooners.

I wonder, if Sol Campbell had moved from Higbury to White Hart Lane, would he be welcomed by all?

Sol Campbell must have known what he was doing when he signed for the arch enemy. Last year in Spain, Figo went from Barcelona to Madrid and he was labled a Judas. It will be interesting when Arsenal travels to White Heart Lane. God help Campbell.

Welcome on board Bebeto!

I agree that Campbell must have realised what kind of an uproar this would cause amongst the Spurs crowd. The difference between his move and the one Figo made is the distance, Barcelona and Madrid are probably about 300 miles apart, it is only 4 miles from Highbury to White Hart Lane. He can't escape the Tottenham fans!
