St George Illawarra Dragons dominate at NRL Community Awards

St George Illawarra have been recognised for their contribution to the community by taking out the club community program of the year at the NRL's community and player education awards on Friday night.
In the program – "SCORE Dragons" - the St George Illawarra club has worked with the Disability Trust Illawarra and the Illawarra and South Coast Junior Rugby Leagues to create an all-inclusive environment for people with a disability aged 12-23. Playing rugby league is also promoted within the program. St George Illawarra players George Rose and Joel Thompson were awarded for their work in the Indigenous communities. Rose, who is completing a graduate certificate of commerce at University of Sydney, has devoted a large amount of time in advocating school and education in Indigenous communities.

These are good initiatives by the club and they should be applauded for it. Credit where credit is due, as always.

In saying that, lol@people beating their chest as if this makes up for years of poor management on and off the field.

Good on you Dragons, well done, recognition and appreciation where it's due. Let's hope this proactive initiative in community involvement also translates to on field performances.

I work for a local community organisation and the dragons community team have been fantastic to us. Can't praise them highly enough for their generosity.

Nice to see their good work being recognised.
