Here are some quotes from an article in Rugby League Review:

“The VB International Sevens will once again be held at St Mary’s Western Weekender Stadium in 2006 in what will be part of a two-day carnival in February.

The Arrive Alive Schoolboy Sevens will be held on Friday, February 10 with up to 20 schools expected to participate.

The following day, the International Sevens will be capped at 12 teams with a maximum of 13 players per squad. VB will sponsor the event with $10,000 in prize money up for grabs.”

“International sides confirmed for the 2006 event are the Cook Islands, New Zealand Maoris, Fiji a, Portugal, American Samoa and the winner of the New Zealand Club Sevens.

Western Suburbs and the St Mary’s Penrith Cougars are also certain starters with the remaining four spots taken up by Aboriginals, NSW Country, Windsor, Sydney Bulls, Balmain and South Sydney.”

The Carlton Mid-strength St Marys' Sevens will be held at the Western Weekender Stadium on February 11.

Premier League sides St Marys Penrith and Western Suburbs will be involved in the tournament that will include $10,000 in prizemoney. The winners will take home $3000.

Two pools will feature Australian sides with the other two groups being contested by international sides.

Each pool winner will collect $1000 for coming first in their group. The top side from each group will play for the Cup, second-placed will contest the Plate, while last-played will play in the Bowl competition.

Winners of Pool 1 will take on Pool 2 in the semi-final and likewise with Pools 3 and 4. This would allow an international side to contest the final.

Matches get underway at 12.20pm with the final set down for 8.15am.

Pool 1: St Marys Penrith Cougars, NSW Koori Invitational, Windsor Wolves
Pool 2: Western Suburbs, Wyong, Sydney Bulls
Pool 3: Wellington (NZ), Cook Islands, Portugal
Pool 4: American Samoa, Fiji, New Zealand Maoris

Good stuff girvs. Maggies kick off against the Bulls in the second game of the day (12:40) The winner of that one pretty much determining who goes through to the semi.
