Okay basically today we played a game that featured 35 people... 17 Knights, 17 Cowboys, and one highly biased referee. Unfair penalties, lack of deserved penalties... it was hard to play a decent game under such adverse conditions, but, IMO, the Knights achieved it. The standout players were numerous... Perry, Buderus, O'Davis, Kidley... the list goes on! :D Though there were a few hiccups, such as some of Kidley's kicking attempts and a few errors by Rudder and the bench players, we managed to overcome this with a good solid win.
Though all these factors contributed to the game, one thing eventuated which presented, to me, some hope for the Knights. Matt Parsons overcame his criticism of past weeks for potential as captain, and was enthusiastic and generally demonstrated excellent captaincy. Great work Parso!

You missed a great game.

Josh Perry had his coming of age game, he duelled with Rahihi for most of the match, and I might add made him look like an idiot.

Kurt was not good, very poor kicking game, but his other work was reasonable.

Robbie was brilliant.

Buderus was my Man of the Match, played with the Cowboys markers all game.

Simpson and Price were both very solid; Price seems to be maturing well late in the year. Abraham was quiet, although he turned in a great kicking performance, he is every but as good as Andrew.

Steve Lyons was off his face for half of the game, in reality I don’t think the second half was as close as the score reflected, I think the Cowboys got a few decisions they shouldn’t have.

Rudder played well, ignoring a couple of mistakes, it was a good finish for him.

Matt Gidley and MacDougall were quiet, and missed a number of tackles between them, Matt especially was not all there.

Young Josh Smith had a fine game, he looks better for the run he had a few weeks ago.

Parso had a blinder as well..

For the Cows. Bowen had a good game; Rahihi was carrying on like a prize tart and deservedly went for an early shower. The halves were good, they continually found space for Bowman, and Bowman was the catalyst for a number of Matty Bowen runs down field.

All in all it wasn’t a bad game for the Knights, it was a big danger game and I was most impressed by how Physical we were up front.

All looks ok for next week.

OMG, i would have bet 500 bucks that parso would score today, he came close so many times, you could really see he wanted to get over the line, well he got over once but knocked on

It was like Parso and Perry had been watching Riddel's performance on Friday night, they were both going for it in a big way.

Anyone see what happened when Parso knocked on? Fox brushed it, and Lyons didnt bother to got the the Video Ref......did he drop it?

i think he grounded it...Lyons didnt even bother with the video...he really is a shocking referee.

speaking of great refereeing did anyone else see the send off in the Parra vs penrith game. WHAT A JOKE. The hit was a bit late but he hit him in the chest.

Parso dropped it cold...he did'nt complain about it, so it must not have been close.

Did anyone else notice the tackle counts by the referee today? On more than one occasion, for a set of six by the Knights, Lyons called last tackle on only the 4th tackle... I think that the call "Go back to kindergarten" from one of the highly-intoxicated fans at the game was appropriate... what is the game coming to when even the referee can't do something as simple as count the number of tackles accurately! I could understand it as an error once, but (at least) 3 times in one match? In conjunction with his penalties awarded for ridiculous things, and LACK of penalties for obvious errors such as off-side, I felt that he gave referees a bad name with his job today.

It slipped out at the last second, very close to a try, the Knights were solid today, the forwards got over the top of the Cowboys who were pretty physical themselves, Perry is starting to become the forward we knew he would be, one Cowboy forward can definitely testify to this, Parsons had one of his best games of the year with at one time not even being able to be put on the ground by 4 men.
Rauhihi, why did we let him go?
Sean Rudder in his farewell game for us, was good despite one early fumble and got the try that got us back into the contest, Doogs was promising with some incredible displays of strength in taking the ball up and some excellent tackles.
The Knights played a fair game, but will have to look at their cover defence more, the Cowboys were not easily beaten and with some good signings will probably give the Finals a good nudge next year.

In a hurry, so I don't have time to read what others have written.

But standouts were:

Buderus - 2 tries and led the way - quite good actually.

Parsons - finally got some steam up, and got himself involved. I think he loved the captaincy responsibility, talked to the ref civilly, and hit the line and kept running with the ball - very good yesterday.

Perry - there is a whole topic dedicated to this - but what a turnaround on my pre-signing comments. He has lifted his game 10 fold, and we're seeing massive results.

O'Davis played well, Kurt Gidley and Rudder played o.k, albeit a few mistakes, some dodgy kicks here and there - no excuses there, but they both played solidly.
Abraham was good, as was Simpson (a big missed tackle in the 2nd half though) and Woolnough with some decent runs.

Encouraging signs from individuals, despite not putting the Cowboys away until the 75th minute or so.

kurt has to improve his kicking game dramatically, sure he has a good kick chase, but not once yesterday did he find open space, he always picked bowen sing or williams out on teh full, if he does that against the roosters then we are playing right into their hands.

Perry and Simpson were brillient. Woolnough off the bench played well. O'davis and buderus went really well. Quinn played an improved game.

Rudder played one of his better games. It disapoints me, that he really only plays well, when he decides to have a go, eg Grandfinal, first games back at 5/8 after being dropped to the 2nd row, last home game. He has admitted that he's had trouble getting himself up for games in the past.

Gidleys kicking game was very ordinary. I missed the game as I was working, but I watched the replay on NBN. Apparently there was a big breaze which would have made it difficult. But he still was pretty disapointing with the boot. But apart from that, he did a line break at least one try assist and scored a try and looked dangerous when he ran the ball. So I can't be to disapointed in the way he went.

The most dissapointing player was macdougall. What happened? He had been playing sensational football. But in this game, he hardly got involved?

The forwards layed a good platform. We attacked the blind sides alot and it worked well as we kept making very good meters. Buderus was great out of dummy half close to there line. Thank god hagan kept him there instead of putting him at halfback. He offers so much at hooker and played a big part in alot of our trys. WELL DONE DANNY!

Bowman and Sing gave MacDougall and Quinn nothing all game. Rudder kept giving MacDougall the ball but his inability to get around his defender really showed up yesterday. They wouldn't let break through them like the last month's opponents. Next week the pair will be up against Hegarty and Walker.

The big worry at the moment is the left hand side defence. Kurt Gidley keeps on getting sucked in by decoy runners forcing both MacDougall and Quinn to move in and creating an overlap. It doesn't help that yesterday Quinn missed a shocker for the first try on top of it all.

And for goodness sake, it's time to release Kurt Gidley from the penalty touch finders.

Kidley needs to find the boots he wore against the Warriors. As Ch said his clearing kicks went on the full to the two players you'd least like them to go too, Sing, and Bowen, and his grubber kicks were nothing kicks, far too much weight on them. As for the line kicks, well they did the right thing giving O'Davis the ball to kick after the kick from Kidley that fell 15 metres inside the sideline.

Josh and Bedsy were outstanding. I thought Simmo played much better than he has in recent weeks and Parso looks much better when he gets deep and runs, instead of lumbers, on to the ball. Well done to the entire team. We have seen what teams with a "nothing to lose" approach have achieved in the last few rounds eg: Dragons v Broncos, so we too could cause a hugh upset by beating the Rooters. Go Knights!!!!!

When that disgraceful little excuse for a human being (John Howard) introduced the GST, after saying repeatedly GST would NEVER NEVER be introduced, he said that this was not a core promise. It seems the same applies here. When he first said the Federal Govt. would match the State Govts input to the stadium upgrade, this was obviously not a core promise either.

He really is a loser. There's no way I'm voting for the liberal party next election and anyone who does, really mustn't want a new stadium.
