My old neighbour used to live telling me stories how he and his mates used to play in shark park and had old bits of junk poking through. He reckons he had a bad infection in his knee from it. Don't know if it was staph though...

When the ground was completely reconstructed some 10 years ago, the process would be that a contoured clay capping plus maybe a geotextile separation layer would be constructed as a base. Drainage and several layers of filter material would be laid before finally capped with the growing media. Almost impossible for any organisms nor deleterious material to come from the sub base to contaminate the soil in the root zone.

Others have stated that the bacteria is found almost anywhere and those susceptible may contract the bug.

I think athletes are in the firing line for these types diseases as they push their bodies to the limits.

To blame the ground is just plain silly.

Playing surface looked pretty bloody ordinary last game, but yeah blaming the surface is stupid.

For a cynic like myself, it sounds like the foundations are being laid for relocation of games to Allianz.

Well, the thing is, even if it were true it would be true for every ground. Staph is everywhere. In hospitals, shopping centres, schools, day care centres, cemeteries, casinos, brothels etc etc. EVERYWHERE!

Take samples from any NRL ground, Allianz included, and I'd bet London to a Brick that there would be staphylococcus aureus present.

What a load of shyte this is.

Anyway, I've got work issues, and have to go to a staph meeting now.
