Saw it tonight, is awesome.

Easily the best film of the re-boot series and one of the most beautifully shot movies I've ever seen.

I've read somewhere that it's basically Fast and the Furious in space... which gives it about -7/10 from me, as both a fan of good film and a fan of Star Trek.

f**king dirt bikes in Star Trek. What the f**k.

Timbo - is there any semblance of Star Trek left in the series, or should i just go into the cinema expecting an action film?

Trailer sucked but the movie was great.

There is more emphasis on action in this reboot series, but I thought this movie was the first to really stand out on it's own without relying on already done plots. There were some parallels with Star Trek 3 with the Enterprise being blown up - which looked stunning - but that's about it.

Would see again.

I was worried when I heard some dude who directed fast and furious, but by all accounts its a great movie. Going to see in gold class tomorrow

How this is at 85% on rotten tomatoes has me beat.

Motives are very unclear and it doesn't feel like a star trek movie at all.

Yeah, that was what I liked about it. It was very much like an episode of classic original series, with some action thrown in. There were plenty of winks at the audience for diehard trekkies too that weren't essential to the plot but were great to see.

The thing I really enjoyed was the return to the Kirk/Spock/McCoy trio that was really at the core of the original show, but had been sadly missing from the first two films in the series.

Agree with all of this.
