Steelers to win

Messages

Last year the Steelers were 15-1, and only failed to make the SB because the Pats are so good, and Rothlesburger was a rookie. Now Big Ben has matured into a very good quarterback. If he hadn't been hurt this year the Steelers would have had one of the best records going into the playoffs, instead of being the 6th seed. They can stop Denver's running game, bother Plummer with their blitzes, and move the ball as they did against Indy.

The Steelers beat the team with best record despite some bad officiating. The Broncos beat a weakened NE squad with the help of some poor officiating.

The Steelers will win in Denver and go on to win the Super Bowl.

You heard it here first.

Im afraid you're wrong. (well i hope so anyway lol)

The Steelers played their Superbowl last week, Roethlisberger may have matured, but so has Plummer, he has played like a team player who doesn't try to be a hero.. and thats working. I dont see how you think you can stop our running game, we have proved we're a great running team and also throw on a safe short pass on first downs to give us the advantage of running short yardage.

Plummer can handle blitzes, Roethlisberger should be the one worried about the blitz, if we do exactly what we did to Brady last week to Roethlisberger then we should put him under a huge amount of pressure then force the mistakes and turnovers like last years playoffs where he struggled.

You also underrate our defences one of the best in the league, sure our pass def is weaker than it should be but by constantly have Roethlisberger under pressure it will help stop the big pass going down field. We are just about the best team against the run.

Last week's games dont mean anything, although like i said, the Steelers might be drained from that epic game last week. Im hoping so anyway.

It should be a great game, lets hope we dont see any officiating screw ups and the best team wins.

!!

Tipping Broncos to win.

They have Shanahan as coach - He has won 2 SB's and knows how to win the big games when his teams get their.

They have the best Run defence - Not a bad effort considering some of the outstanding backs they face in their division (LT and Larry Johnson)

True home field advantage - A mile up and they are conditioned to playing in the thin air.

I don't think the Steelers were a true 6th seed. They would have finished higher up in the seedings had big Ben not gone down for a few weeks, but the Broncos are a litte bit fresher and really played a great game to force the Patriots into so many errors.

Should be a great game regardless Broncos to win 24-17

The entire Broncos front four is from the Cleveland Browns and was brought over to Denver for this season.

They're going to have nightmares when the Bus gets out there and starts running all over the top of them just like old times. Especially given that this is probably Bettis' (a future hall of famer) last chance to make the super bowl and he'll want to atone for the uncharacteristic fumble against the Colts that almost cost Pittsburgh the game.

colonel_123 have you even watched a single game of the Broncos this season? Those Browns players have been a great pickup, improved our run defence and enabled us to put pressure on the QB quicker.

We've handled alot better rb's than Bettis this season. I dont see him as a problem.

It's alright mate just getting stuck in with a bit of friendly banter...

And has a point of interest, I don't care who the Broncos have faced this year, no team in the NFL runs the ball as well as the Steelers and future hall of famer Jerome Bettis.

Sure the Broncos offensive line has played well, but they haven't had to face the Steelers this year. Bettis is desperate to cap his hall of fame career off with a super bowl game in his home town. And when he starts running down hill at those former Browns defensive linemen they're going to remember their 2004 season (worst run defence in the NFL) and all those times the Bus ran over the top of them.

As a big Pittsburgh fan it's a great comfort to know that when the Bus starts moving that there's going to be four former Browns trying to stop him ;)

You heard it here first.

last year the steelers failed because of terrible playcalling in the afc championship game.

in probably the first 5 drives the steelers had to start the game roethlisberger only threw the ball in 3rd and long situations.

against a patriots d that thrives in those situations it was a gameplan doomed for failure if the running game didn't work and it didn't work at all. the coaches played not to lose and when a team does that they always lose.

this year they have let roethlisberger throw early and often and the steelers look unstoppable.

of course until they meet the panthers where they will be crushed into submission.

looking good so far. 24-3 at the half. A 3 touch down lead is huge in a playoff game.
But then i thought 18-2 in a semi with 11 min to go was big in 1998!!

Well, Denver have put up a bit of fight in the 2nd half, but it appears baring a miracle that this one is over, as it is for the Bronco's season.

Denver have definately over achieved this season IMO, and no doubt will be all the better for this experience going into next year. I'm still not sold on Plummer though, and note that he has thrown a couple of picks today, and given up a fumble...

I thought that there were some serious warning signs there last week. The Patriots moved the ball on their defence very easily, and basically Denver had that game handed to them on a platter by the Patriot turnovers. I knew that today the Steelers wouldn't give up too many easy points on the back of turnovers.

I only watch the first quarter today, but looking at the Burger's stats, he has continued Denver's defensive woes today.

Good luck next week to the Steelers .. its a great achivement to win 3 games on the road in the Playoffs...

I agree BuffaloRules we have gotten alot further than i expected this season, a wild card game was all i was hoping for.

Im proud of the way they fought back today, no doubt the people who have been waiting all year for Jake to stuff up will come out of the wood work. They just have to look at where he has gotten us, one win from the SB.

I disagree with you that we got last weeks game handed to us on a platter, if you want to say that then you could say that we handed Pittsburgh the game on a platter today with them scoring i think it was 21 points off turnovers.

It just wasn't our day, that reversed fumble on the Steelers was sign of things to come, the ball just didn't bounce our way.

Good luck to the Steelers next week, im sure you will handle whichever NFC team you face as easily as you have handled the two best AFC teams.

Represent the AFC well

Steelers appear to have fate on their side. I hope the panthers can win vs the seahawks.

Great win by the Steelers. They caught a couple of breaks early in the game with the near interception and fumble. From then on thought they never looked back.
I had to leave for work about half way through the 3rd qtr and I thought Cowher ball was going to take over and allow the Broncos back in the game but it looks like they got bakc into gear and locked the door shut on a Broncos comeback.

One little thing I must mention Tim Smith in his rookie year took the Eels one game away I wonder if the parrallels will continue

As I said in the other thread, I'm gutted, absolutely gutted :( The further you go, the harder it is when you fall. Well done to Pittsburgh though, they deserved it.
