The Warriors announcement did not clarify Kearney's position as Kiwis coach but Jim Doyle confirmed this morning that he is set to resign from national duties today and won't travel with the team to the UK.

The New Zealand Rugby League could not be reached for comment last night but the number one world-ranked Kiwis are now in desperate need of a new coach ahead of the upcoming transtasman test against Australia in Perth on October 15 and their ensuing Four Nations title defence in the UK through November.

I didn't realise that Kearney had been head coach since 2008! Are there any ideas for who could be a replacement? Isn't ideal a month away from Trans-Tasman Test and the Four Nations.

Kidwell. Kearney has apparently offered to fly to Perth with the team for the warm up test to make the transition easier.

It'll be Kidwell or Richie Blackmore IMO

Might be too big a leap for Blackmore just yet. Plus there is still the bad blood between him and Nikau. Wouldn't be surprised to see him appointed under 20's or ISP coach for the Warriors though.
