his passion on the footy show tonight was awesome.

close to tears when talking about the game and his love was clear.

good to see someone standing up for RL.

if I was given a license to start a new rugby league franchise, the very first thing I'd do is give Turvey a call and offer him the CEO's position.

It takes more than passion for the game to successfully run a multi million dollar business.

With no cooperation from News Limited.......it will be all for nothing.

Didn't he actually say he had spoken to head honcho at NEWS Ltd who had said they would be happy to support an independently run game if the ARL would come to the Party and that Toovs was talking to someone from the ARL next week? The inference I got was that the ARL is as much the problem as NEWS Ltd.

Liked it, but this should be a discussion held behind closed doors, it gives the game zero credibility when you have to air stuff like that on FTA television.

You really hoped no one else was watching...

True, however...if News Ltd wants out....they are most likely not going to get involved in a long term plan......they want to keep costs down.

Lets hope this is the start of something positive and the GAME'S future takes precedence over both parties agenda's. Neither side has anything if the game nose dives.

Got to love Turvey. Passionate about League. Passionate about New South Wales. Get him in the Blues dressing room before every game next year and we'll win it 3-0.

Used to not like him as a player (Sterlo was better, and after all Turbey played for the Dogs), but I want to buy the guy a beer after that!

Passion plus good sense! He'd make a good NRL CEO one day...

Turvey and Sterlo would make a great combo as CEO/Chairman.

Both have great football minds.

Though Turvey would have the higher position of course.

I remember talking to Turves at the old City Rowers in Brisbane after the 97 SL grandfinal. (Cant remember what its called now).

The conversation went along the lines of "So do you think there is going to be two comps next year?". Which was at the time was totally undecided!!

He completely predicted the merged comp right down to the teams in and out. He also predicted that the Dogs would win the 98 comp, he was only 40mins and a one of the all time GF chokes out on that one!!
