I reckon he'll go down as another star player the media will bag us for letting go, rightfully so i guess.

I really hope he plays well (not to show us) but maybe see if the Knights have back up halves combination in K.Gidley and S.Witt...So the media can stop with the 'The Knights are a 1 man team' talk cause its really getting lame and annoying

The knights are a one man team though......

And did someone say Tonga is quality? When did he play a good game for us? Never. Anyone who wants to join the scum dogs from the eels, doesn't have the right passion to play for Eels, so he was never going to play well for us.

I'd much prefer media's continous 'Knights are a one man team' than their 'Here's another quality player thrown away by the Eels'.

don't worry mate im with ya, Willie always seemed to stuff up in first grade but if you'd ever seen him in First Division you would know the kind of talent he is. Pure Skill, could create a try out of nowhwere, ((he must have got nervous whenever he hit first grade)).

I like you plea of: please be a spastic!!
Go Steve, hope he shows the world what he's made of! Too bad its in NZ, i'd love to be there to see it first hand.

we both promised him that we'd be at his first game, in fact i think i said it to him with tears running down my face one night i meant it soo much. Last week when people were telling us he was playing vs the Dragons we had serious considerations of dropping into Wollongong on the way home from Canberra!!! Lucky Eela- msg'd us and told us he wasn't!!
Believe me, if i had the money, there's nowhere i'd rather be... :( ThankGod for Foxtel and Video Recorders :D

I dont care about Steve Witt. He's gone. Anyone that leaves the mighty eels is now the enemy as heartbreaking as it is to say that about some. And you know what I don't give a shit about poor Newcastle. Watch the 2001 grand final again and see if you will still be saying Poor Newcastle... "its so good for them that they are doing well with one of our former players".

I'm sick of the media and their narrow minded theories as to why we let go of so many good players. ](*,) It's only a small proportion we can attribute to dumb ass decisions they fail to realise...

* That the star players of 01 were on pretty small contracts before they hit a very big purple patch. Once they come off contract it was virtually impossible to give each player a contract he deserves and still manage to be under the salary cap. Which is subsequently why they went elsewhere

* Players who never really shone for us (Eg Tonga) were NEVER going to play well for us. Sometimes players play better with a different team who suits his specific style of play (eg the bulldogs)

At least the Knights have given Witty a chance, which was more than Smith was will to do in three years.

Was interesting to hear Hadley say Smith wanted to keep him and it was Fitzgerald that decided not to :?

Hadley was just mucking around when he said that, so he could have a joke at the expence of his 'mate' Denis Fitzgerald.

Yeah, Smith wanted to keep him. What the hell for??? To hold him back for another 3 years. Steves best and only option was to get out of Parra and not once will I ever hate him or any other player that is forced out of Parra for that.
