Was watching the DVD/Concert ACDC stiff upper lip again the other night.

If you have not seen it I reckon you should give it a look.

The concert is live in Germany.

Though most of the packed stadium more than likely don't speak fluent English they know all the words and go totally ape sh*t !!!

Angus YOUNG is totally incredible and MUST be one of the GREATEST rock and roll guitarists of ALL time !!!!

****I can not recall another Rock band with as much history, international popularity and world wide success, where the LEAD GUITARIST is more popular than the LEAD SINGER.****

ANGUS YOUNG is a living legend !!!!!  :music1: :thumn :thumn

ACDC regularly play in front of 100k + people every year to this very day, 20+ years after their debut in a dingy Aussie pub. And yet every year, their home country continues to ignore them...Look at the idiotic show on Channel Nein about our top songs ... ffs Stevie Wright gets number 1 and yet ACDC only get the 12th best song  Its our national disgrace. ACDC are easily Australia's GREATEST musical export bar none.

LOL @ AC/DC fans
just to explain my earlier comment, it's just a chuckle at the hyperbole of AC/DC fans
I think that they're quite a good band, but it's comments like angus young being one of the greatest guitarists of all time, etc. that takes it too far

Are the bands that you have mentioned above Australian, and more to the point on my original comment.

ARE THEIR LEAD GUITARISTS MORE POPULAR TO THE AUDIENCE THAN THEIR LEAD SINGERS. !!!!

It's definately rare that a band's lead guitarist is more popular than the lead singer. Even Ian MOSS ( extremely talented guitarist, song writer and singer ) was not as popular as Jimmy when in Chisol. )

Just says and shows what a talented musician and SHOWMAN Angus is.

Which of the people who commented above can TRULY say they have actually watched the Stiff Upper Lip DVD ( concert ). Give it a watch first then come back on this thread and tell me I am wrong once you have seen it. Angus YOUNG totally goes off. It is an amazing performance !!!!

maybe not the greatest however if you dont appreciate what they did for the Australian music industry then you wont ever appreciate...

You wouldnt be fit to tie any members shoelaces imo.

Rolling Stone rank him in the top 100, admittedly at 96.

I don't necessarily think he is the greatest guitarist of all time but he is very much a great and he and AC/DC have influenced a lot of bands/guitarists over the past 30 odd years. Chet Atkins used to rate Angus as do many other greats. There are few who put as much into a performance as what Angus does that is certain.

A better live DVD is "Live at Donnington"

I saw them on The Razors Edge tour during the early 90's and managed to make it to two shows over that very weekend (bought tickets off a guy on the way out of the first concert and still can't remember how much I paid!). Undoubtedly the best live concert I have ever been to.

They are in the process of recording another studio album which is to be released either this year or next which will include a World Tour. If you have never seen them live - do it.

I disagree.

Live at Donnington is missing AC/DC's secret weapon - Phil Rudd. They don't groove as hard with that bald chap.
