They said they were going to then late last year they dumped the idea.

I like Matty Johns suggestion of bringing it back with Beyonce doing it.

Would have been great to have that song back for the centenary year.

And if they were worried about it not appealing to today's musically broad minded yoof, then I'm sure a rap/RnB version (cue The Herd?) of the same song could have been created and alternated in the TV ads... hell, maybe even a country and western version (cue Kasey Chambers?)!!

I like the kissing montage from 1989.

I also would like to point out how many mos there are in the 1989 and 1990 campaigns. SO MANY MOUSTACHES.

I want more mos in league.

I wish I'd been born in 1975 instead of 1985 so I could remember those ads. Back then, all I knew about League was that Parramatta played, but whenever I heard 'Simply the Best' I knew it was 'The football song'. I watch the clip for 'What you get is what you see' and try to comprehend just what a big thing that must've been at the time, to have a superstar like Tina Turner promoting our very own game and looking as if she had such a great time doing it.

On saying that, I thought this years' ad was brilliant. If only it played more on the telly, :(

i thought it was brilliant too and definitely gave me goosebumps. specially reg gasnier passing to mark gasnier (now that is just kinda heartbreaking).

yeh i was born in 81 so those ads are just my childhood in tv form. i remember running to the tv everytime they were on...they made me obsessed with Tina and Barnsey instantly, and i still am today!

its sad seeing so much footage of Norths though. poor bears :(
