Stone Temple Pilots Australia Tour 2011

March is turning in to a very expensive month! Hope it's worth the wait!

http://www.fasterlouder.com.au/news...mailbomb&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=10081-[Newsletter]%20Stone%20Temple%20tour,%20Pyramid%20set-times,%20Boogie%202011%20line-up

In 2008, six years after their tumultuous split and to the delight of fans world-wide, Stone Temple Pilots announced they were reuniting. And finally, after two years of endless tour rumours and two decades of waiting, FasterLouder can confirm that Scott Weiland, Eric Kretz and the DeLeo brothers are coming down under for their first ever tour of Australia next March.
Speaking with FasterLouder about the reunion earlier this year drummer Eric Ketz admitted he always believed the band would eventually reform: “With each passing year you come to a new place of tolerance and hopefully wisdom and kindness and you kind of implement that in your being [and] we’ve come to a better understanding of what we’re capable of when we do work together.”
And reform they did.
For the past two years the band has been busy appearing at festivals across the globe and have even managed to release their sixth studio album, which according to Ketz is chock full of tunes the band wrote over twenty years ago: “[Some of] these are songs that we’ve had we’ve had sitting around since 1986 and some of which were written in the [recording] sessions… I mean, I think that’s why we got back together to do this ’cause we were sitting on a wealth of material.”
So its time to break out your copy of Purple because Stone Temple Pilots are headed to Australia in March 2011, supported by Australian rock stalwarts Grinspoon.

FasterLouder presents Stone Temple Pilots:
Wednesday 16th March – Challenge Stadium, Perth
Saturday 19th March – Festival Hall, Melbourne
Sunday 20th March – Hordern Pavilion, Sydney
Wednesday 23rd March – Riverstage, Brisbane
Thursday 24th March – Newcastle Entertainment Centre
Tickets on sale 9am local time, Friday 17 December.

I will die if they open with "Sex Type Thing". Amen!

My dog, who I named Kretz after their drummer, died a year ago on 11th of December. It's quite fitting that they announce a tour almost a year to the day after my little mate passed away. I'm gonna take a photo of him to the show so he's there with me in spirit.

Cheers 18th!

When I was 16 my folks asked me if I wanted a dog for X-mas and I said yes. I was thinking of names for him and at the time STP were my favorite band. I recorded this clip off Letterman and played it ad nauseum until I decided "no, he's getting named after Eric Kretz!"

That tutu and the hoola girl on the bass drum are f**king hilarious!

I went out, literally the next day, and got a box from our local supermarket. I cut it so he could get in and out of it no problems, painted in brown with the name "Kretz" on lined it with a blanket. That clip was from the Thanksgiving Show and I didn't go and pick him out until the following Januray but I was set on giving him that name. Little did we no he'd grow as big as he did so as soon he was able to start chewing things he destroyed the bed I made for him. He was actually a bee's dick away from being called Weiland actually!

Being in Melbourne I'll be forced to put aside my hatred of Festival Hall aside for an evening. I still haven't heard the new album but I hope the first 3 (Core and Purple in particular) feature heavily.

My wish list is "Sex Type Thing", " Lady Picture Show", "Tripping on A Hole In A Paper Heart", "Unglued", "Interstate Love Song".... FMD there are so many favorites that I just hope they'd play! With their backcatalogue I don't think I could be disapppointed with anything they'd play! I just hope Scott is off the smack and turns up!

Well between 2 Social Distortion shows (Melbourne and Sydney... I already have tix to both as well as flights and accomodation in Sydney) and a toss up between either Imelda May and The Hold Steady and now STP.... I don't think I can sacrifice STP. I've waited since I was 15 and can't imagine how much longer it'll take for 'em to finally come back. I HAVE TO GO!

I am there. The best $90. I have spent Grinspoon support makes it even better. Might even go 2 Newcastle aswell. Takes me back 2 school. Purple was played non-stop 4 good few months. Add to that the quality of Grinspoon's old stuff like dead Cat. Just ace etc

I am going to the Sydney and Newcastle shows. Pre-sale next week. So far, our group is at 12 and likely to grow.

I have a feeling they will release more tickets for another concert of two. I think the promoters/band are underestimating the amount of fans they have down under.

I am guess other shows will most likely be added. Given they like smaller venues only Acer & Encent is left. They have got enough gaps in that scedule for extra shows. I think these wil go quick given 90's grudge rocks

Got my tickets. I was so easy must be the time of year. Had to do it in 4 transactions as I needed 20 tickets. 10 mins in total

I am going to Sydney. The Hordern is a great venue, last time I went there was to see Velvet Revolver back in 2005.
