I have been critical of the roosters leaking points after the game has been seemingly won like against manly and Cronulla but I give them a pass mark here. Things were always going to change after the 30 minute mark when the benches came in to play due to our outs and inexperience. To stem the tide in the 2nd half given that and 2 HIAs was quite remarkable and the regs didn't help our cause either.

I think we win by 20 plus if SST plays and/or that ridiculous forward pass off their first try is called.

3 Latrell
2 JWH - he is so important to our success
1 ikavalu - immense improvement in the last 3 weeks and that play where he beat JAC to the ball was brilliant.

3. Latrell Mitchell. What an outrageously gifted individual.
2. JWH. Oh captain my captain. Love this man passionately. Mmm hmmm.
1. Tedesco. Lethal in attack and faultless in defence.

Special mentions to Tetevano, Butcher, Sitili with that run, Ikuvalu with such courage after being belted twice in the air.

This was the greatest Roosters regular season win that I've witnessed.

Melbourne had something like 13 sets to 3 early in that 2nd half. So to turn that tide of momentum with so many kids, on top of Keary's HIA, and against a full strength Melbourne in Melbourne.

Just wow. So proud.

1. Tupouniua - what a run.

Same as Captain Apollo.

Anyway, I know it's very early in the season but I've seen enough to know that when we are at full strength then there is no team that will match our best. No Manu, SST, Liu, Friend plus Keary going off in the second half and it took a 10-5 penalty count with some mind boggling calls (forward pass for their first try, Vunivalu flopping) against an undefeated team at to send it to golden point - and we still won; only injuries can stop us this year. So many teams this year are terrible.

Actually we were missing:

Brett Morris;
Joey Manu;
Isaac Lui;
Jake Friend; and
SST.

That is 5 players who would normally be in the starting lineup.

3. JWH. Just slightly shaded Mitchell. With a sizeable chunk of our pack missing he was very good.
2. Latrell. That last play. I admit at that moment I was looking at Cronk to take the shot. One for the ages.
1. Solid as ever.

On the Latrell FG, I actually considered him an option a while back for long range attempts given his booming drop outs.

I think we will see more teams adopt a bait and switch strategy with field goals. The vast majority of teams have one of the halves take it who are inevitably pressured by 4 off side players. You are better off giving it to a 3rd stringer who is handy with a bit of space so they can at least have a good look.

What a win. That FG set up was an absolute master class.

3 - JWH
2 - Lattrell
1 - Sitili

Big shout to Tetevano too. Thought he was tremendous but had to give a point to that young lion sitili. What a performance from him.
