Storm Beat Dragons In Extra-Time Thriller

The Storm, as you’d expect in the first round of the Premiership, didn’t perform to the standard they’ve set themselves over the past few years, yet still had enough in the tank to overcome the spirited Dragons effort. Greg Inglis looks set for a huge season and he picked his times to chime into this match with great effect, while Adam Blair, Ryan Hoffman and Billy Slater showed they’ll still be a strong force to reckon with. New signing Wairangi Koopu produced a solid performance for his new club and despite being a late inclusion he may have nabbed a bench spot for a few more weeks at least.

Negatives and Positives VS DRAGONS

It might have been a scrappy game from both sides.. but in my opinion I think Will Chambers and Willie Ise where appauling in there ball handling, I hope not to expect to much more..

maybe Cronk, C Smith Halves. Hinchcliffe Hooker, Inglis Centre.

If they keep friday nights team againts the Broncos I think we might struggle..

If we lose I think J Tomaine and Inglis should be centres.. I guess only time will tell.

I think Hoffman's penalty for the shoulder charge was a pretty harsh call as I also think Inglis Tackle over the sideline while in motion was a hard call from the dragons fans and to get a penalty what a rio...

Greg Inglis is a Juganaut man now.. and with the extra 6kg he certainly showed soward how to fly.. he also still shows his speed and kicked the match winner.. would love to see him in the centres.

Steve Turner did well the defend big Wendall Sailor.. saves a certain try saver in the corner in the late second half. Turner also made some good dummy half runs to rain come metres... << And storm are trying or tried to let him go mid-season.

Scott Anderson replaced Brett White before the game, and seriously think opposition really throw him around and make it difficult for Scott to hold the ball.. he doesn't take a hit to well..

Kevin Proctor is a solid prospect and made some good yards and a few goods runs to prove he is hard to tackle..

Wairangi Koopu played very well the always be in a selected team for a game.

6/10

Good summary...I would add that Chambers and Isa have a lot of work to do defensively.

The forward pack needed Manu and White to add some size to it and with White potentially out this week as well then they are going to have to play a fast game to nullify the Broncos forwards.

Koopu will definitely get a spot this week...when he came on he made good yards and settled the pack down as well.

Smith and Inglis once again showed why they are so important...Inglis running wide will always score points.

7/10.

Inglis was outstanding and agree with you about Turner, he handled Sailor well. It wasn't the prettiest win, but it'll do for now.

I was impressed by Proctor - played hard all night.

I actually would like to see Hinchcliffe at 5/8th - he showed some really good footwork and is a good ball carrier. If Inglis is out I would move Hinchcliffe to the pivot.

Isa played better than Chambers - they both lack hunger in attack. They strike me as opportunists waiting for a break.

In the words of Bennett last year - "It wasn't pretty, but I'll take the 2 points".

6/10 is my score.
