Out of left field I know but if Bellamy doesn't take the job in 2009 I'd ask Brad Fittler, assisted by Andrew Johns to do the job. They'd at least give you lot some passion across all 3 games.

If they got Gould in as coaching co-ordinator to oversee the whole thing it probably wouldn't be a bad idea.....

f**k Gould, he is a CH9 employee.

I like the idea of a Folks, Fittler, A Johns and Daley ticket.

Just not a current NRL coach.

But get rid off Bozo of first.

after seeing joeys reactions in the coaching box during origin 3... i've got no doubt he could perform a mal meninga-style job. he's one of the most passionate players i ever saw play the game.

As ive said before Mal Meninga is more of a manager figure with Neil Henry being the brains behind the teams tactics.

So as has been said above me Andrew Johns would a great in the Meninga style management role as he can insight passion for the blues jersey, with John Cartwright in the Neil Henry role (Cartwright would bring passion as well as he is probably the most passionate coach in the NRL as can be seen by his reactions in the coaching box). That combo with the right selections would be an origin winning combination IMO.

joey's face in the coaching box was one of my favourite things about origin three. HEART.

couldn't agree more though that nsw need a proper fulltime origin manager/overseer. the few-weeks-a-year coach just doesn't cut it anymore.

It would be difficult having Joey or Freddy to coach the Blues. If we are going to have like a mentor style coaching structure, I would much rather have Steve Mortimer as the head coach and Craig Belamy as assistant.

I reckon steve mortimer would be awesome, he's a really canny guy. I can't remember hearing anyone ever ask him about it though?

Wouldn't mind seeing someone like Freddy or Joey being given the title of NSW coach. Would awesome to have one of these NSW stars as the face to our campaign.

They have to be involved in some way atleast. Need some blokes who will bring out the passion in our players.

Funny thing when origin 2 finished I thought Brad Fittler with Brian Smith as assistant would work.

I guess not going to happen now :sarcasm:

One good idea is Brad Fittler with Phil Gould as assistant, it will be like the apprentice and the master. Gus wouldn't need to be in the spotlight and can still impart some wisdom and strategy in the role.
