I am not against moving the GF ever, however it must be done for the right reasons, not just because qld wants to have a go. I am yet to hear one convinving argument for this to be the case. Yes, Tradition is something that evolves, however tradition is a commodity you cannot put a price on. What are the 11 gf wins in a row that st george won, worth to the game ???

BB if you are seriously suggesting that the GF be moved to ANZ stadium you need help and quickly.

 at all the paranoia from all the nswankers in this thread.

yet,:lol: at all the qldérs and nsw haters who think it should be moved, because they would like a go. Are they that tight they wont spend the $$ to go to sydney to watch the biggest game of league that year ??

Whats next, they want the opera house, or they want the afl final, or the melbourne cup.

And why the f**k is Anna Bligh writing letters about football games when half her state is under water? :?

Because it's easier.

When faced with real problems, people ignore them by wasting time on trivial rubbish and hoping someone else will deal with the problem.

Take my job as an example. We have systems and processes that are ludicrous and time wasting and serve no purpose. So what do they do? They waste all their time enforcing the stupid rules, rather than spending time and money coming up with new ones that will actually improve things.

This is a prime example of "look what I have achieved by getting my name in the media"

Yes Anna .... absolutely f**king nothing darling.

If it is an all QLD derby it should be moved ASAP but I would rather keep some tradition in the game, and I am a Queenslander.

I think it does, 30,000 less seats means there will be a several million $$$ shortfall to the NRL. I am sure it will need to be worthwhile in a monetary sense for the NRL to even consider moving it.

Suncorp is the best RL stadium in oz, however it is simply not big enough.

Stadiums are not cheap. Right now a 80k seater would start at 500mil. Thats HALF A BILLION DOLLARS. a few hundred thousand bucks in missed tickets is chicken feed to the cost of a new staduim.

The thing is such white elephants are so very rarely full. QLD would fill it for SOO, and a GF if we got one, but nothing else. ANZ (homebush) is the perfect example. That things useless as tits on a bull.

The reason why suncorp is soooo good is its the right balance of everything. Awesome view from everywhere. Compact tense atmosphere. Its right beside the city. And provides great atmosphere for all the other smaller events there. NRL, A-league, Super14

Perfect to host a GF!

Keep on dribbling sh*t it's most amusing.

Just because the "home "of rugby league in australia with it's 100 year old clubs can't get more people attending their games than goes to happy hour in oxford street doesn't mean that you have your heads firmly implanted up each other's arses does it?

Yeah, you right ... we up here in Qld should build a 80k stadium ... then the public can complain about how far away the game is from their seats, everybody can complain about the atmosphere, nobody will want to go to the football and fans of teams who host home games there can moan and whinge endlessly about why their team plays there in the first place

Or we could have the best rectangular stadium in the country by a mile that ticks all boxes

Get with the times ... Brisbane should host 1 in every 3 or 4 GF's increasing as Sydney teams fall from the vine

Will your team fall first ?

Oink !

ps Or maybe we should just start a competition leaving Sydney out altogether ... They can play their NSWRL comp and come crawling back to the rest of the teams later when they have rationalised down to 5 teams and are completely broke. I know, we could call it Super League !

You tried that, and look what happened.

Who's comp did the broncs make an application to join ?

If you dont like it, piss off and start your own competition, oh silly me you tried that and failed.
Brisbane could play melbourne one week, sunshine coast the next, north brisbane the next, springfield the next, perth the next week, maybe adelaide the week after.

Just admit it, you need us more than we need you, what comp do you think the cows and titans would want to play in. The qld state cup or NSWRL/ARL ?

an 80K stadium isnt a prerequisite to hosting a GF... i would rather have a sold out 50K stadium of curious fans from WA than 80K league nuts because your actually spreading the game.

instead of preaching to the converted they should be looking at bringing the game to new fans and new markets.

the tradition card was made redundant when they moved the GF away from the SCG.

and not allow the die hard fans who support their side each week not get the chance to attend the game (wether from qld or nsw) for the sake of allowing curious fans to attend. There are 30 other weeks they could get to a game.meh, agree to disagree

the ARL certainly didnt win from the SL war.... News still owns half the comp and earns a fortune off the back of the game... SL certainly didnt lose...

But bringing the Grand Final to new fans?
Why shouldn't the league nuts be able to watch the Grand Final hey?

When it comes down to it, the NRL will make a decision based upon what "best serves the interest of the game and it's supporters" in other words, they'll sell it to the highest bidder.

Who gets to host the Grand Final is a commercial decision and the NRL want to get the best possible deal out of the owners of the ANZ Mistakedium and the NSW sorry old State Government. Part of this process is scaring them into thinking that they'll give the Final to Brisbane. The people at the NRL will be wined and dined and put up in the best hotels and given free stuff and keys to things they can't open etc all so they do what's right (for them).

If that means that Brisbane get every other final, or one in three or none at all, the decision will have nothing to do with tradition or who sells tickets faster or which clubs are based where - it will all be down to money. Plain and simple.

PS. It's quite a realistic proposition, Queensland getting the Final, because Nathan Rees and his NSW in a right f**king sorry old State government are dribbling morons and dont have any money to throw at it.

so we lose 30k people to move it to Brisbane?
Would be one of the sh*tter decisions ever. Reckon an AFL grand final will ever be played outside Melbourne? Of course not, and as such the rugby league GF should stay in Sydney

because league nuts will get over it... they already spend there hard earned on the game... bringing the game to new fans will bring more money and interest to the game and plant the seeds in new markets.
