Anybody know of the list of Super League rivalries or care to list them here. Can't find them on Wikipedia so would like to put them on there. I've already done the NRL and Australian ones.

Wigan, Saints, Warrington and Widnes (not is super league (yet)) are not the best of friends. In fact they are all rivalries big time.

Saints - Wigan
Warrington - Widnes

would probably be the biggest in the region, but any of the games if the teams are doing well. Hence those matches as traditionally the teams were about the same level.

Saints and Leeds due to finals.

Cas and Wigan because Wigan cheated to stay in the league and Cas got relegated.

Cas and Wakey (and Fev).

Leeds vs Bradford.

Leeds and anyone from Yorkshire it seems.

Hull and Hull KR.

Salford and Swinton. No-one else cares about Salford.

Crusaders, Quins and Catalans have no rivalries due to the time the teams have been around and distance.

Thrown a few rivals of super league teams that are not in the top division at the mo. just in case your interested.

Prob missed a few. Just google map the towns. Anywhere nearby each other.

Good list. Generally most of the teams from Yorkshire don't like each other very much and the same goes for Lancashire. Some of the rivalries are stronger than others though, the main two at the moment are Wigan-Saints and Hull-Hull KR. Leeds-Bradford used to be considered a big rivalry but due to Bradford's decline that's really fizzled out and I think most of the Leeds fans just feel sorry for Bradford now. There are many other less intense rivalries too such as the ones Wireman has listed, which is usually due to teams being in seperate divisions and rarely playing over the past two years. For convenience, I will give a list of the teams and their main rivalries.

Bradford - Leeds, Halifax (both have fizzled out somewhat)
Castleford - Leeds, Wakefield. Bad feeling towards Wigan and Crusaders.
Catalans - N/A
Crusaders - Widnes, and rivalry developing with Castleford this year.
Harlequins - N/A
Huddersfield - Halifax, Wakefield
Hull FC - Hull KR, Leeds
Hull KR - Hull FC
Leeds - St Helens, Bradford
St Helens - Wigan, Warrington, Leeds
Salford - Swinton (unlikely to ever be a competitive match again, so they have no real rivals)
Wakefield - Castleford, Huddersfield, Leeds
Warrington - Widnes, St Helens, Wigan
Wigan - St Helens

Are there any names for these particular clashes?

For example, in Australia there is the Steel City Rivalry between Knights and Illawarra or the Fibro-Silvertails between Wests and Manly.

Not really. Mainly just goes by location.

East Lancashire Derby, Yorkshire Derby etc.

Other than Lancs vs Yorkshire in the cricket we don't have names for big matches in any sport. That one is the Roses match. We get certain names for advertisement purposes. The Big One for example is used by Wigan to promote certain games in the year.

The places that played the game and built up the rivalries are all very similar. So we wouldn't use something like Steel/Pit City Rivalry. As for Fibro-Silvertails, i assume thats to do with money in the Northshore? We certainly don't have that problem!! :D

Is that becasue of a lack of money or a lack of shore down Wazza way? ;-)

 We have a bit of sand next to the Mersey, just next to the Unilever factory...

Actually the closest team to Silvertails would probably be Warrington. What with us being part of the Cheshire jet set looking down upon the masses in their dirty Mill/Mining towns up North... ;-)

Or even chemical plants. ;-) For those of you that don't know Widnes is the home to ICI and has a large chemical works in the town. A few years back when Widnes were last in the SLE Warrington (correct me if I'm wrong please WireMan) produced a poster promoting the Cheshire derby with a three eyed fish on it and a barrel of toxic waste to taunt the Widnesians.

That wasn't a poster, that was an actual photo...

Any seaside teams?

I know this isn't SL but I'm wondering if Wales and France may build a rivalry by plaing off for the 4th spot in the 4nations every cople of times. I guess this would require consistancy in the construct of the various comps, so being RL, it may never happen. My reasoning is that that both have reason to believe they were more entitled to that last entry spot than the other, and it may become a piece of pride.

Hull are on the coast. Down a few divisions Blackpool have a team.

My understanding was the Welsh and French teams are in super league to help the national teams. If we can get some good competitive games at international level it will help bring in new fans. There is going to be a competion for the minor teams where the winner plays in the 4 nations. This will be mirrord in the southern hemisphere with the island teams you have down there. I cannot see a Welsh French rivalry. They are both friends in there dislike of England. An increased Anglo-Welsh, Anglo-French rivalry would be good though.

Hull is NOT on the coast. The coast is twenty miles away. It's on an estuary. ;-)

20 miles away! No wonder it all looks so bleak over there. Warrington is 20 miles from the coast and we have three towns, a large city, a safari park, 2 premiership football teams and a statue which looks like a giant penis between us and the coast!! :)

Anyway its a big estuary. Pretty much an inland part of the sea, which kinda makes it on the coast... ;-)

From a Leeds point of view our main rivalry is Cas.

A big thing was made of Leeds and Bradford but that was because both teams were half decent for a period after SL started and drew big crowds.

Also mentioned Saints is a big rivalry because as it now stands, we are the best 2 teams in SL history and have both been the stand out teams for the last 6 years.

The comment "Leeds and anyone from Yorkshire it seems" made me laugh because thats very true. Even though we dont see them as a big rivalry they see us from the Big City of the area and I suppose its a jelousy thing.

TBF though all teams see us as a big game and hate our fans and players because "we are a dirty team" and as fans we "are arrogant" but when you are the best team in the last 5 years you can be.
