St Helens 31 - 30 Warrington Att: 12,666
Wigan 23 - 22 Widnes Att: 11,390
Leeds 44 - 14 Huddersfield Att: 15,514
Leigh 40 - 18 Wakefield Att: 3,213
London 26 - 41 Bradford Att: 3,879
Hull 20 - 6 Salford Att: 8,929

The game at St Helens was absolutely sensational. I can't remember a game as tense for the full 80. Again Warrington lead with seconds to play, again St Helens manage to pull a wonder play out of the hat to win it at the death. Sean Long was pretty awful for 79 1/2 minutes. But with the drop goal from near the half way line he proved he's still a match winner, even when off form. It was such an amazing atmosphere that I thought Knowsley Road was going to fall down such was the bedlem. Awesome stuff. A true classic, if you get the chance to watch this in Oz/Nz don't miss it, even if its on a 4 in the morning. If you love League, you will love this one.

As for Wigan, lucky ba$tard$!

Yeah, solid 80 minute contest. Saints didn't really establish themsleves, but three Warrington mistakes in the last two minutes let Saints make that miracle recovery:
a) Chris Bridge (#25) short kick inside his own half on 3rd tackle #-o
b) Brent grose facial on Jamie Lyon in front of the posts #-o
c) Warrington's failure to pin St Helens on their own quarter from the kick off

Couldn't believe how close Widnes kept with Wigan?

As a huge fan of Chris Bridge's ability, thats sad to hear he basically cost the Wolves a vital win but hopefully he will learn from it, I still think he is a future International.

It wasn't all his fault, Warrington as a team lost it's composure when Briers limped off on about 72 minutes. For the last few sets they went into full self destruct mode, not completing properly. Twice leading up to the Bridge brain explosion they had knocked on/lost possession in their own half. The set before Saints had forced the ball on the Wire line leading to an interception. The Wire player tried to go around Jamie Lyon about two feet from the touchline and on his own 10 metre mark had to desperately throw the ball back inside, straight into Vinnie Magic's hands! Unbelievable lack of respect for the ball and the clock.

Bridge though does need shooting. About 4 or so minutes to go and he tries a grubber ( !) deep in his own half. Lyon picked it up and the rest is history, thanks to Brent Grose's facial in the next tackle.

The final set was perfection from Saints though. Albert led the march from the kick off to his own 20. Another hard drive, then Paul Anderson trundled over the half way line. A quick play the ball and Wellens via Cunningham took it to the 20, with the defense going backwards. An American Football style pass back to Long stood just inside the Wire half and it was all over.

Paul Cullen must have been suicidal after that finish. I can't help but think that if Lee Briers had been able to complete the final 8 or so minutes then Warrington would have been celebrating the win.
