Super League will rule in 3 years!

The English Super League are always taking Aussies stars from NRL and will carryon. The NRL is not popular with players anymore. Only players who have just come through the ranks like Berrigan, Meyers etc. The ESL will rule in a coupe of years. Plus the world champions are English already!

The English have reduced the number of imports from five to three and are also introducing a salry cap which will limit the number of foreign players into the ESL and then you will have to develop some of your won players.

We actually already have a salary cap but no Aussies seem to know, but next season they are putting it down to 1.8 million £which means we will have to try hard to keep the stars from going to Union. In Australia it's an even less salary cap so no wounder there all coming over here. It's anoing because all the Rugby League clubs from England and Australian and NZ Warriors are all rich and have more money than the Union clubs but we are losing players to them coz of the salary cap, if it wasn't for the salary cap then we would be a very rich sport in terms of salaries, but in a few years when the salary cap has done it's job in evening the teams up (I think it's working in both Eng, and Aus) then we can start paying the players huge amounts of money plus the clubs will be richer coz they won't have spent as much on salaries unless they updated their stadium instead.

I'm sure that if the NRL cap was set higher than what we have in the ESL then maybe more British players would consider that competition over a switch to Union. I know that if I were a top grade Leagueplayer I'd want to test myself at the highest level week in week out.

Gav, i'd love to see more pommy gits running around out here but the reality is because the Aussie peso is so low and clubs are run like budding interent sites(lol) we will never get much of a chance to see all the best ESL players on a weekly basis. A shame really.

About ten years ago the poms had a very strong side and came within a whisker of securing the ashes in 1990. Had they done that RL would be huge in the U.K because you actually would have a successful side. At that time players like Hanley, Schofield, Davies, Ward, Offiahand the fullback had all played in Australia. Ward I thought was especially tough. With the expreience they gained in the then NSWRL they became a very strong side who would of been worthy champions and only just lost to a very strong Kanagaroo side that included the greats like Daley, Meninga, Stuart, Roach, Lindner, Elias, Langer, ET and Paul Sironen. That is a champion side in any era and only the bounce of the ball favoured Australia in one of the greatest games I have ever seen in the second test at Old Trafford. It will be remembered as one of tha all time great games of league IMHO.

Adrian Morley is developing into a class backrower and his experience in the NRL will benefit the poms later in the year.

What did ya think of Harvey Howard last year at the Broncos? THe other Englishman who got an England World Cup call up!
Why do you think that there aren't many pommies in NRL anymore?

Great Britain can only get strong again if the players play against top class Australians more often. We should be seeing more Poms in the NRL and we should be seeing more International Rugby League. It is imperative that League gets its act together in this respect- at least this years Roo Tour (however abbreviated it might be) is a start.

Cheers.
