Damn, hard question this far out IMO. I will chuck a nomination out there though I admit as the season goes on, injuries happen, the nominations will no doubt change

AFC Title Game: New England Patriots vs Pittsburgh Steelers

NFC Title Game: Phillidelphia Eagles vs Green Bay Packers

Superbowl: New England Patriots vs Phillidelphia Eagles

The AFC is very hard to pick. Atm the Patriots and Steelers are the obvious standouts and then there's the Colts who can beat anyone on their day if their defence puts in even a half-decent performance. Baltimore are abit of a dark horse too.

I don't rate Vick or Atlanta, so i think if Moss can get back fully fit they along with the Packers will be Philly's main competition. So i'll go with:

AFC Championship game: Patriots vs Colts. (im not sold on Big Ben yet)
NFC Championship game: Eagles vs Vikings.

SB: Patriots vs Eagles.

I should give my reasoning.

New England are the best coached, best prepared team in the NFL with the best big time QB who now has more more than previous years as he has the veteran Corey Dillon to hand off too thus giving him more time as the play action has to be respected. The WRs are solid if not spectacular and ALL WRs /TEs see the ball so the opposition D can not tee up on one player. Who ever is open, Brady finds him.

Their D, like the whole team barring Brady, has no real superstars dominating ESPN highlight reel though they choke to their opponents into submission with clever schemes that confuses the best offensive mind at times. See Manning's record vs the Pats.

They have a brilliant special teams, a clutch kicker...this is the most complete team in football and a favourite to go back to back.

I agree Tommy Smith, the AFC is wide open for the 2nd spot in the title game. You have Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Indianaoplis as genuine contenders, though the Jets, Broncos, Jaguars and even the Chargers could surprise. Their is seemingly always a feel good story in the NFL, if you want my darkhorse in the AFC, look no further than a Jets team with a healthy Pennington and veteran RB in Martin.

I selected the Steelers as outside Baltimore, they have the best D in the AFC coupled with a stronger offense that is simple though effective. The Ravens are let down by a glaring weakness at QB and a O that relies on the legs of Lewis. This formula, though effective in 2000, will not be good enough to take the title in the AFC nor get them to the showdown IMO.

Indianapolis, regular season hero's, are still unproven as a playoff team. Yes, the offense is clicking at an even higher rate in 2004 with the emergence of Wayne and Stokley, coupled with a back to his best Edge, though the D still has too many questions.

I will wager my money on a D to stop Manning and the Colts in the playoffs...history is on my side and I will stick with the Steelers who are quietly doing just about everything right.

The NFC is a little more cut and dried IMO.

Philly remain the standout and seem destined for their 4th NFC title game in succession in which they should represent in the SB. T.O. has been the difference maker and he has made this offense 2nd only to Manning and his Colts as the best in the NFL (though going on points for, surprisingly SD are 2nd to the Colts!).

Greenbay at the start of the season were a contender in the NFC and I have not wavered from this fact which has been backed up by the current streak they have embarked on. Favre is a top 3 ALL TIME QB IMO and with Favre firing, this team with Ahman Green is a threat to Philly no question.

Outside the above 2 teams, you have Minnesota led by Culpepper and Moss, Atlanta with Vick and a swarming D with only perhaps St. Louis as a contender.

It will be interesting to see how the 5-5 Giants go with Manning now at the helm who was solid in his debut as well.

Steelers Vs Eagles. Just hope the Falcons don't crash the party again and ruin another SB. How good would Denver Vs Minnesota have been a few years ago?

NFC: Surely the Eagles can make the SB this time? They must know that the window of opportunity won't stay open forever, just ask the Dolphins.

AFC: Picking the Steelers.
They have the game plan to beat any team on any field.
Roethsliburger is a good enough quarterback to make plays when he needs too. Since he has a great running game to back him up, he isn't under pressure to win the games himself. He has a couple of great recievers who can make plays in there own. With the offence able to control the clock the D is always fresh and very capable of frustrating any offence.

If the colts could pick up home field advantage, I'd pick them in a second,
but it's just not going happen. Any of the colder fields they are likely to be playing on come January are go to take a lot out of the offence. The defence isn't going to be good enough, so the offence is going to be under pressure to come through, normally not a problem, but adverse weather conditions will frustrate them and eventually lead to mistakes.

The Patriots. Surely the Patriots of all teams can't emulate the efforts of past 49ers and Cowboys teams. It just doesn't round right. The Squeelers will end the Patsies playoff winning streak, even if the Dolts can't. ;-)

AFC CG - Pats v Colts
NFC CG - Eagles v Falcons

SB - Colts v Falcons

I hate to say it, being a huge Pats fan, but I think that the Colts will be too good for the Pats this year in a repeat of last year's Championship game. In the NFC I think that the the Eagles will choke again because their D can't stop the run and any injury to TO and they are gone. The Falcons are playing good D and have the X factor in Vick. Also year after year there is always a surprise packet in the SB, i can't remember the last time when the 2 mid-season favorites made the big game.

i like the chargers. i think they could go very close to winning it this year, theyre inform, playing with confedence and tomlinson is a factor in every game they play. wether they can match the patriots or steelers is another thing, but i can see them making a fist of it

Steelers-Eagles, just as I predicted on a preseason thread.

Absolutely 10000000% correct.

I'm a long time Steelers fan and seeing them sitting at 12-1 after the struggle to win 17-6 against the Jets, well lets just say the AFC North title never felt so good, especially after last seasons effort.

They have been so close to a title so many times in the last 10 years, and now with wins in the regular season against New England (now 11-1) and Philly (also 11-1) well that just fills me with a desire to go all the way. Knowing we were the only team able to beat those two makes me feel this could be the year for the steel curtain. The one two punch of Staley and Bettis will be the key. The X- factor will be whether the rookie QB Ben Roethlisberger can stand up to the pressure of the playoffs in his first year. So far so good for Ben, the match winning drive against the Jags was something to behold.

My thought is that this has to be the year. Bettis isn't getting any younger and as such has been relegated to second string in the backfield. Ben's likely to suffer some second year syndrome and well, 12-1 season's don't grow on trees. So they have to make this one count.

I'm tipping my dream superbowl to eventuate, which should have occured two years ago. The all Pennsylvanian Super Bowl.....Pittsburgh Steelers vs Philadelphia Eagles.

Steelers 20-17 win in overtime.

I think both the Falcons and Eagles will be looking over their shoulder at the Panthers, who are making a late season surge and if they make the playoffs, will be a force to be reckoned with.

Outstanding post, Mambo. :D The Steelers have to be taken even more seriously now after the win over playoff contender Jets.
