Steelers-Eagles, just as I predicted on a preseason thread.

Absolutely 10000000% correct.

I'm a long time Steelers fan and seeing them sitting at 12-1 after the struggle to win 17-6 against the Jets, well lets just say the AFC North title never felt so good, especially after last seasons effort.

They have been so close to a title so many times in the last 10 years, and now with wins in the regular season against New England (now 11-1) and Philly (also 11-1) well that just fills me with a desire to go all the way. Knowing we were the only team able to beat those two makes me feel this could be the year for the steel curtain. The one two punch of Staley and Bettis will be the key. The X- factor will be whether the rookie QB Ben Roethlisberger can stand up to the pressure of the playoffs in his first year. So far so good for Ben, the match winning drive against the Jags was something to behold.

My thought is that this has to be the year. Bettis isn't getting any younger and as such has been relegated to second string in the backfield. Ben's likely to suffer some second year syndrome and well, 12-1 season's don't grow on trees. So they have to make this one count.

I'm tipping my dream superbowl to eventuate, which should have occured two years ago. The all Pennsylvanian Super Bowl.....Pittsburgh Steelers vs Philadelphia Eagles.

Steelers 20-17 win in overtime.

Outstanding post, Mambo. :D The Steelers have to be taken even more seriously now after the win over playoff contender Jets.

We are in a very good spot with NE dropping an unloseable game to Miami. NE are showing their true wares.

I was impressed with our defence to beat the Giants late in the 4th quarter. Steel Curtain may have a few injuries but it stands as strong as ever.

And now we get the Jets in the playoffs. I can't wait for Dave Letterman to make his first joke about the loss the Jets suffered at the hands of the greatest NFL franchise in history!

Well, the Steelers were fortunate to beat the Jets. But we can still regroup and win next week. Big Ben will play better next week.

Give the Jets credit for a good effort.

Ah c'mon Steve. Lets not go soft now. It was destiny that won that game. Yep, destiny, the natural in flight drift of an NFL football and a very thick set of posts.

Did anyone hear the Letterman jokes on the Jets? Pure Gold.

Let's see who everyone thinks will be in this years Superbowl.

My prediction is New England v Atlanta.

AFC Championship game: New England v Pittsburgh
NFC Championship game: Philly v Atlanta

This prediction was done a while back and so far, I am right on target. Got the championship games picked and didn't buy into the Indy hype.

Let's see how I go this weekend.

Damn, hard question this far out IMO. I will chuck a nomination out there though I admit as the season goes on, injuries happen, the nominations will no doubt change

AFC Title Game: New England Patriots vs Pittsburgh Steelers

NFC Title Game: Phillidelphia Eagles vs Green Bay Packers

Superbowl: New England Patriots vs Phillidelphia Eagles

New England are the best coached, best prepared team in the NFL with the best big time QB who now has more more than previous years as he has the veteran Corey Dillon to hand off too thus giving him more time as the play action has to be respected. The WRs are solid if not spectacular and ALL WRs /TEs see the ball so the opposition D can not tee up on one player. Who ever is open, Brady finds him.

Their D, like the whole team barring Brady, has no real superstars dominating ESPN highlight reel though they choke to their opponents into submission with clever schemes that confuses the best offensive mind at times. See Manning's record vs the Pats.

They have a brilliant special teams, a clutch kicker...this is the most complete team in football and a favourite to go back to back.

The NFC is a little more cut and dried IMO.

Philly remain the standout and seem destined for their 4th NFC title game in succession in which they should represent in the SB. T.O. has been the difference maker and he has made this offense 2nd only to Manning and his Colts as the best in the NFL (though going on points for, surprisingly SD are 2nd to the Colts!).

Greenbay at the start of the season were a contender in the NFC and I have not wavered from this fact which has been backed up by the current streak they have embarked on. Favre is a top 3 ALL TIME QB IMO and with Favre firing, this team with Ahman Green is a threat to Philly no question.

Outside the above 2 teams, you have Minnesota led by Culpepper and Moss, Atlanta with Vick and a swarming D with only perhaps St. Louis as a contender.

The Packers failed me here...you get that, 3 from 4 is not that bad nearly 2 months out from the games ;-)

Sticking with my pre-season battle of Pennsylvania prediction, despite the Pats strong showing.

To me the Pats are like an efficient machine, but boring and devoid of personality, reflecting their coach. They remind me of the early 70s Dolphins that way. I hope the Steelers can take their place as the top team, with their flair, blue-collar personality, and emphasis on defense. Just as the 70s Steelers overtook the Dolphins as the best team back then.

Patriots to win in another thriller. Picking TO to have minimal impact, maybe 1 catch for a first down.

27-24 final score to the Patriots.
MVP: Corey Dillon
