Exactly. You have to learn to take the good with the bad with Davey "Warnie" Warner.

With the exception of Clarke and Hussey, that is the case with our entire batting line up atm.

Watson coming back is not the key to more consistency either imo. He is a bit rocks and diamonds as well.

I still think that batting is not our major problem. Our problem is that we don't have a bowling attack capable of consistently taking 20 wickets. Most test pitches are roads nowadays and you need at least one or two bowlers in the team who have an x-factor about them. Blokes who can prise out a wicket when batsmen are set and the pitch is no help. Our attack lacks that x-factor. Looking around first class cricket, I can't really see it on the horizon either. Australia's next generation of bowlers look to be all line and length on or just outside off stump. You can't bowl that all day and expect wickets to just fall on a flat track. Its ok to bowl that line when the ball is doing something. When it isn't, you need to have something else.

Warner not a certainty? What the bloody hell does he have to do to become one? Surely he has more runs on the board (literally and figuratively) than Cowan, at the very least? I'd be inclined to express the same incredulity about Lyon. He showed in Adelaide he's a decent bowler, and far, far superior to any other spin option we have.

Warner is a certainty. Don't understand how you could possibly reach the conclusion he's not
Warner is a certainty for the rest of the summer. But beyond? Not yet.

If he doesn't make runs in the next 4 tests he will have a grand total of ONE score of 50+ in his last TEN tests. That's terrible. If that happens he is no certainty to keep getting picked.

lol at people whinging about cricket talk in here, if you don't want to talk about cricket, talk about something else. But this is the superthread and people are always going to talk about whatever they want in here. And, it is Australian Summer time so of course cricket is going to be discussed a fair bit

There's less cricket talk in the cricket forum than there is here. I think I'll go there and talk ST topics. :p

would never dump Morne. During a post match press conference, Faf was saying that during that last over on Monday, Morne had played a few good straight drives and he went to talk to him (support encouragement, whatever) and Morne just said "don't worry, I've got this", he then hit 2 fours and finished off the over and the match. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that man
