Pressure seems to be an issue with our swimmers.
The less hyped up events, the better we seem to do.
Groves just needs to repeat that swim.

You would think the Americans will slow down with gold in the swimming once Phelps retires but nope Ledecky ensures the next two olympics will have gold.

Not even fair!

Loved Groves swim - hope she medals. These 100m free boys are doing well they could both medal, gold is possible but the American is clear favourite in my opinion. Pure racer.
That 200m womens race was awesome - McKeon is hot and swam great.
Phelps - legend. Real pleasure to have watched his career.

Yep, I made a decision a few Olympics back to stop hating them in the pool (probably when Phelps came along) - you tend to enjoy it more. I just hate the cheats now.

For the record, if Bolt defends his golds then I'm going to consider him the greatest olympian of all time.
Getting to the Olympics is hard but if we were to compare which is harder to do, it's got to be olympic sprinting.

20 gold is way more than anyone, which means phelps is the best Olympian of all time, and you'd admit it if he wasn't a yank :D

I dont tend to hate them just roll my eyes, their athletes have every chance to succeed.
It's not impressive to me compared to smaller nations like Hungry and France who feature.

Phelps and Ledecky are the exception though as I like them both a lot.

Lol no.
I find Bolt's achievements far more impressive, I would think this even if an Australian was doing what Phelps did.

Yep, my reasoning is that every able bodied man than has ever lived knowns how good he is at sprinting and if he is any good he does that rather than any other sport (dudes quit their other sports if they are fast enough over 100 to justify it). To have been the best as long as he has makes him the Alpha man.
Lots of people including me just don't like the water so don't know if they can swim or not.

With the amount of PEDs in athletics, as much as I admire what he has achieved, I just can't put him into the Phelps category of GOAT athletes. Call me a skeptic but every winner and world record holder of the mens 100m since 1984 has been implicated with drugs, apart from Bailey and Bolt.

If you don't think swimming has not got PED issues you are kidding. From the Chinsese swimming to the East Germans, then in recent times. Every sport has some drug cheats unfortunately

I wouldn't blame you for thinking that but to me Bolt is clean and its his technique that has won him golds.

Bolt is still accelerating while everyone else is slowing down, he does this because he's taller but also has exceptional balance for his size.
Have to think his bowling in cricket may have helped this.

From a technical stand point, Bolt is a work of art.
Too tall, too skinny and too slow off the blocks but somehow turns his weaknesses around in the race to become strengths.

I never said swimming was immune to PEDs. But how many Olympic blue ribbon event winners in the past 30 years have been done for PEDs and had Olympic medals stripped compared to athletics? The answer is f**k all Your Honour.

No doubt it is great to watch him race. Just as I loved watching Armstrong in the TdF. The fact that all of his Jamaican team mates have been done is a little bit suspect.

I will never forget the Memo Heredia (infamous PEDs chemist and manufacture) interview I read years ago where he said every finalist in the mens 100m at Beijing would not be clean. He was the guy who helped Marion Jones and a host of others, including Maurice Greene.
