Utterly disgraceful that the "must have played 100 games" criteria is put in place, as this eliminates club legends Dally Messenger, Dave Brown, Viv Thicknesse & Lionel Cooper from the reckoning. Players who are unlucky to miss out are:

Fullbacks
Jack Watkins
Luke Phillips

Wingers
Terry Fahey
Kerry Boustead
Lionel Cooper
John Ferguson

Centres
Kerry Boustead
Ross McKinnon
Dally Messenger
Dave Brown

Five-Eighth
John Peard
Wally O'Connell

Halfback
Viv Thicknesse

Lock
Terry Regan

Second Row
Terry Regan
Ron Gibbs

Front Row
Ferris Ashton
Jason Cayless
Peter Cusack

Hooker
Elwyn Walters
Jeff Masterman
David Trewhella

Utility
Micheal Crocker

Not sure about the positions of Larry O'Malley, Dan Frawley, Pony Halloway, Rod O'Loan, Les Cubitt, but they had huge wraps too.

Brown and Messenger were in the Roosters' Greatest Ever Team weren't they? It's not like they've been snubbed, and considering they are two of the greatest players the game has ever produced I'm sure the Roosters will be honouring them in another way.

Yeh i think so. Poor bloke had to retire early. But always put himself on the line for the team, & wore his heart on his sleeve.

If you don't count the '100 game' criteria for nominee's:

1. Russell Fairfax
2. Bill Mullins
3. Dally Messenger
4. Dave Brown
5. Lionel Cooper
6. Brad Fittler
7. Viv Thicknesse
8. Ray Stehr
9. Sandy Pearce
10. Big Artie
11. Ron Coote
12. Joe Pearce
13. Andy Norval

14. Jack Beaton
15. Barry Reilly
16. Jack Watkins
17. Kevin Hastings

That side would without a shadow of a doubt put huge pressure on any other all-time team named. Only all-time better teams would be Souths, Dragons, & MAYBE Manly, Tigers or Wests. The criteria for this team being chosen isn't the same as our "greatest ever team". This is a 'centurion' team honouring the great clubmen. And even club legends like Minichiello, Morley, Fitzgibbon, Gibson, Boustead, McGahan, Ashton can't get into that.

Alot of those players made up the bulk of a side that made 4 grand finals in 5 years and won a premiership, in a modern era when repeat success is near enough to impossible.

What ever your thoughts of the Roosters it's a record that stands favourably with many of the great team success' in rugby league history.

If it's a 'centurian' team for great clubmen, why Hegarty - with now a long career at the Bunnies? Brendan Hall???

Oh, I get it. That's ALL the players Easts have ever had to hang around for 100 games. The others all got early flights out of the transit lounge.

Special mention for Brett Papworth who was injured for 100 games.

Seriously, I would have thought Dick Dunn would have been a shoe in for any lock spot in a Easts all time side. And where's Rod O'Loan, premiership record holder for the most tries in a match (8) v Canterbury in 1935?

It falls short of so many great sides it's not funny - even in the modren era.

From the players i ever saw

1 Luke Phillips
2 Anthony Minichello
3 Brad Fittler
4 Ryan Cross
5 Matt Sing
6 Andrew Walker
7 Adrian Lam
8 Adrian Morley
9 Craig Wing
10 Jason Cayless
11 Michael Crocker
12 Craig Fitzgibbon
13 Luke Ricketson

14 Simon Bonetti
15 Chris Flannery
16 Peter Cusack
17 Bryan Fletcher

that was a complete waste of time cause its more like the best team from 5 years ago...

I honestly think that if that team was assembled 5 years ago and playeda team from now i think they could win. Maybe a bit stronger forward/bench pack but it wouldnt be too bad.

As i said before Misty Bee, alot of the players who aren't there were from our VERY powerful team around the war time. So that's why they didn't get to 100 games. O'Loan, Brown, McKinnon, Messenger, Cooper, O'Connell, Thicknesse, Ashton, Halloway. These guys were all-time greats.

From what i've heard, Cooper is considered by many in the top 10 all-time wingers, up there with Bevan, Horder, Irvine, Grothe, etc. Similar to Harold Horder in playing style, but war cut out a large section in his career. O'Loan, McKinnon, Halloway i'm not sure of their positions that they played, but were great great players. Brown & Messenger were absolute legends bar none, & Thicknesse i heard was an excellent player, good enough to force the great Kevin Hastings onto the bench.

It's funny how the Roosters have been in the competition forty years longer. How many premierships have you won since Manly came into the comp?

lmao at your last comment. Ridiculous.
