The Sydney Roosters has transferred its game against the North Queensland Cowboys on the weekend of the 3 / 4 July 2004 from Aussie Stadium to Express Advocate Stadium Gosford.
Recent research by the club highlighted that 17% of all NSW registered Roosters supporters live in the Central Coast / Newcastle region.
Roosters coach Ricky Stuart said he was sure many thousands more would turn out to farewell Brad Fittler in his final game on the Central Coast. "This is a great opportunity for those that have enjoyed Freddy play over many years to come and say thank you and more importantly, to bring the young kids along they can say so they saw Brad Fittler play".
"We're looking forward to this promotion and event on the Central Coast and I'm sure the North Queensland Cowboys are going to be very competitive" said Stuart.
Rooster's General Manager Marketing and Media, Richard Fisk said "The club took the decision to transfer this game to Gosford as a way to say thank you to our fan base here and introduce the Roosters to a new audience".
"I have no doubt that a club like the Roosters will attract a huge crowd to Express Advocate Stadium particularly to see Brad Fittler play in his last season".
The Sydney Roosters are a foundation club and as such have a wide web of supporters around Australia and the Central Coast region is one of the club's greatest supporter bases.
The NRL are supporting the Roosters game to be played at Express Advocate Stadium on Saturday night 3 July with a 7.30pm kick off. The NRL will formally advise the scheduling once discussions have been concluded with television stations.
Tickets for the game will be on sale on 2 June at all Ticketek outlets.
The Sydney Roosters will be promoting the game through a series of pre-game coaching clinics.
Can't wait for this one.
