Has anyone been able to work out the tactics we employee against Parra?

From the evidence presented yesterday it wasn't clear. I'm still scratching my head as to what the plan was.

The tactic was to give Parra 3 try assists. It worked a treat....Seriously they got 3 tries from luck, defence was not bad at all. Attack on the other hand was abysmal. Since Widdop has been back it has been poor. Strange coincidence. Plays the house down, gets an extension, comes back, back to poor form. WTF. He has been poor since he has been back. Playing like 2016.....

Hopefully he can get back to his career best form as per the start of the season.

1 thing that really annoyed me is Widdop got tackled on the 5th tackle and the last play was left to freakin' McCrone to kick. Why the hell it was not the other way around god knows. Not once but 80% of the 6 sets they had. Is McCrone the go to man for attack now? WTF

It seems to me that it takes a long time for Widdop to get his confidence back after an injury, even when he's back to full fitness the confidence is lacking, I think it's happened before.

What worked for St George in the early rounds won't work now. The flamboyant offloading just doesn't cut it when the pressure heats up.
Then you fall into the shell of not knowing what's next. :grinning::grinning::grinning::grinning:

The worst thing about an Eels supporter coming in here and laughing at us and telling us we are one dimensional with no plan B is...............I have no come back.

But get f**ked anyway:D

The 'power game' produced a platform for Widdop to do his magic. The forward's power is diminished and so no platform, no magic from Widdop.

I wouldn't be surprised is the Club had employed an assistant/advisor for Mary early on and this coach is no longer available because the contract was for 3 months not 5 - ring a bell.

It does work when they have the room and the support to offload. Our attack was slow, one dimensional, very very veryyyy robotic and set plays were telegraphed badly.

Possm I don't think there is such a thing as Widdop magic. Yes occasionally he plays a good game but overall he has not been good. Rather than blame the forwards for not setting a platform for Widdop maybe we should be talking about the waste of opportunities dished up by our halves and their inablility to manage the game effectively. This puts pressure on the forwards and drains their batteries.

It is not the forwards that have reverted back to the sweeping backline play with double blocks, this is being called by the "playmakers". This sideways play is also why our backs look poor compared to the start of the year where the play was straighter and they were getting earlier ball.

All the early talk about our superior fitness this year seems to have petered out of late....particularly in our last 2 outings...it was evident yesterday after 3 mins when our blokes were just walking back on side..

In regards to our forwards I agree...because of our rubbish kicking game we gain very little yardage from our kicks which means our forwards are under the pump straight away having to defend after busting their bums to gain some field advantage.....Ive noticed to that the McCrone / Widdop pairing is starting to look like the Marshall/Widdop set up where they start to crab sideways instead of go forward

Basically, the plan was to target Mitchell Moses. Every single time we got the ball in good territory we shifted left and tried to get him one on one with Thompson, Lafai or FFL. Unfortunately, Parra know Moses is a speed hump and had Ma'u bodyguarding him, and when we couldn't crack that side, we had no alternative approach.
