A little early I know, what, with a match being played and all  .
I am fully aware that 8 of the players out there tonight are probably classed as PL players, but this does not change the fact that our playmaking is attrocious. Monaghan fully deserved to be re-signed, as he was captain, but it has always been clear we haven't had an organising influence at the club since (gulp) Kimmorley in 2001.
We've (Touchwood) wrapped up a finals spot this year, and exceeded most peoples expectations. But we simply can't get away with this simple type of football anymore. We aren't going to win any trophies (this year). We've got 8 matches to experiment with if we're willing to throw away the (slim) hope of a home final. It's time to trial a playmaker in the halves, and put Monaghan, whose clever, if limited passing game and solid defence is suited to the number 9.
Here's what I'm thinking for next week ('interesting' ones bolded and explained)
1-Brett Stewart
2-Scott Donald
3-Ashley Alberts
4-Chris Hicks
5-Jared Taylor
6-Michael Witt
7-Travis Burns
8-Mark Bryant
9-Michael Monaghan (c)
10-Brent Kite
11-Sam Harris
12-Steve Menzies
13-Ben Kennedy
14-Glenn Stewart
15-Shayne Dunley
16-Jason King/Anyone but Kane
17-Kylie Leuleui
Taylor- Give the Bloke a run! Hicks played some solid football at centre last year, and I think Matai needs to cool his heels in PL a little bit!
Burns- An actual organiser in the halves!!! We need to try and mix up our approach now that the patented 'super secret Manly football code' has been cracked by opposition teams.
Bryant- First Grade written all over him. Wrap the bloke up because he is developing into a fine prop.
Monaghan-Hooker is his real home.
Harris- Is his contract about to be torn up or something?
