They definitely are. The pressers are mandatory or else no merkin would do them. They have nothing to gain and everything to lose by talking to the media.
I'm actually surprised the media don't tie funding of the sport to greater participation by players and coaches towards the media. After all, the media (News Limited and Nine/Fairfax anyway) are the ones providing the finance for the players/clubs to generate the money they are.

I would be saying to the NRL, you can have whatever $$$ you're looking for, but in exchange every player, coach, or administrator is available to front the media whenever any media entity asks them to be available, and every player, coach or administrator answers every question posed to them satisfactorily. For each non-compliace, we will deduct 1% of the money paid to the NRL for that year.

I remember a few years back an interview with Craig Lowndes where he talked about first moving into Supercars. He said Brock primarily but also the likes of Moffat & Perkins drilled into him and younger drivers how they were to present themselves and make time for media because they knew to do so would be reciprocated financially. And it was around the time when Supercars boomed. And not only that it was across team divides to make sure it was done.

We’ve got a league who hates players, a players association full of rugby league players and clubs that will push other clubs down to raise themselves. As well as the ouroboros that is rugby league media.

Im currently watching March Madness and these college players are showing more professionalism

Remember when Corey Norman was running amok at Casinos and we lost our most promising forward in Junior?? Short memory.

Storm are probably the most successful expansion team in the history of Aus sport to say they aren’t well run is idiotic. Especially when you are defending a board and coach who wouldn’t know what success was if it bit them in the arse. It’s hilarious the positions you huggers twist yourselves into to defend the indefensible it’s very exciting in fact!!
Well if you want to use that logic, we were shit before Arthur or any of these board members or executives were at our club. The one constant is your whinging.

Im a bit of a Tic Tok watcher. There was an interview with Mark Bouris (Yellowbrick Road Financial I think) posted talking about his association with The Brave Chooks and being a board member forever. He remarked that he took Brandon Smith out to lunch (before he signed). Not to offer him more money but because he genuinly liked the guy and wanted to meet him. (Yeah, sure) Anyway he went on to explain how The Brave Chooks Board can offer what other clubs cant. They can offer success and support post footy.
Says it all really.

This would just incentivise the media to further turn things into a MAFS-style circus of melodrama and bullshit, only without the current checks/balances.

And that we are shit, don’t forget that!! Maybe it’s just 37 years of bad luck. Ray Price and the Crow must of smashed 1000 mirrors on the way out the f**king merkins!!

And dont forget the other constant, your defending. You were still telling us in Kearneys last days we had to stick by the coach and we have an academy now lol.

Now we are a small club with no money and no resources lol.

That’s why the sport needs to be the one driving it, not the media. Getting on the bus is a NRL cliche but it’s embarrassing how disparate rugby league is. More like blind dodgems.
And funnily enough Gould is also currently running in this thread.
