Much of the Panfers game was runners not running the right lines. So the rust was with both Hodgo and the runners. Much better this week.

Does he fill the Reed hole ? Absolutely. A few times he was exposed laterally, that's the experience vs age trade off.

Hodgo looked like a bloke who had not played in a while. But he showed enough to suggest he will be a positive contributor soon rather than later.

Mahoney was also injured in 2 of the past 3 seasons. We were lucky in 2020 that the season was postponed so that Reed could recover and not miss any time.

True but it’s safe to assume Hodgson’s risk is a lot greater still. Every player has a chance of getting injured, but older players have a higher chance, as well as often longer recovery.
But skills wise neither IMO are definitely better than the other.

Our attack with the normal 1, 6 and 7, looked great with Hodgson, so watching the trial I didnt see too much difference between the two.

I'm excited to have him at the club but fingers crossed there are no injuries.

The other good thing is the backup has gone alright in the two trials
