Vidot is a f**king star
though his shoulders must be very dodgey this year... he's been carrying the side, which is understandable given from last years premiership side we've lost our best player and fullback and top try scoring centre to FG, our next best centre in Croker aswell, star second rower is too old, hooker is playing loads of FG now, halfback is at SL and lock/captain too old and now at SL

Vidot is trying his guts out to carry this side to something this season, its all too much atm

Foran has missed games. Take that either way ... he might be in the team, if he had stayed on the field. Merrin and Tomane are in similar situations.

Peter Mata'utia is a gun fullback but they've been puttin him in the centres and he's rubbish there
He's a good fullback and a great centre. His defence at fullback is suss due to positioning, and the more involved he is the better he goes.
Byron Fruean is just holding a spot on the bench and is a good chance to be dropped when we have a full squad.
The guy will not pass the ball - ever.

Can people really name these teams when most would see 2 games a week at most?

Two a week minimum. I've seen every team, most of them at least two or three times, and otherwise look out for what else has been happening.

:f:

Mata'utia is a better centre than fullback, but he's done enough versus other competition. It's a little weak at this stage ... Hitchcox was probably the best before his injury. Better players in that position are now racking up games ... Dugan, Hopoate. I really rate Ulugia too.

All players have their limitations. Freun wouldn't be in a "best in the under 20s" team but I thought his form, especially impact in attack, warranted selection. Other players have had shockers since or have moved position ... it's two weeks down the tracks.

Fruean is strong for his size and fit, but he just can't find a position that he will be good enough in to make firstgrade.
He did OK in the second row last year, but just isn't big enough.
He did OK at hooker last year and as a third choice this year, but all he has is a dummy half run - no vision and just shovels the ball to the halfback - no other passing skills.
This year he has been tried as a winger (not fast enough), and a centre (will not pass the ball).
He does a lot of quality tackles and makes a lot of strong runs, but in his last year of NYC he is going nowhere because he hasn't made a position his own.

All fair enough, but I'm not sure that's what is called for in this thread ... after 8 rounds.

I will say, on your points, that it doesn't all come together this early for some players. Maybe not yet finding a position will actually be a positive for him.
