Egan really needs to figure out how to stop the head knocks. Go into the tackle a little higher, maybe?

Yeah that’ll do me, plus maybe Barnett back if available, probably for Sironen. Need DWZs pace and class out wide.

Yeah, Barnett straight it when ready, but it seems like he'll be out another week.

That's one way, although he tends to be the guy who goes low whilst a bigger body wrestles up top.

Which is why is rugby union is batshit insane for lowering the tackling height. The majority (I thin it was 70% or so) of concussions I think was to the tacker going low - either 70% of all head knocks or 70% of tackles, I can't remember

Lowering tackle height is all about protecting the tackled player, not the tackler. The assumption has always been the onus is on the tackler to protect both himself and the tackled player from injury, apart from in the case of raised knees and elbows/forearms. It probably needs a fundamental rethink of how we approach player safety.

Yeah 100% it is, but the off-shoot is you're going to get more tackles lower, and that's where the issues lie. There are a lot of people who think the new below the sternum rule is going to lead to more concussions. Interesting to see what happens.

Maybe he needs to target wrapping up the ball instead. Seems like he's had HIAs every game he's played this season.

Agree with everything you and @SpaceMonkey are saying re concussions/player safety
Yeah, exactly - it seems crazy to keep using the same technique if it's going to lead to the issues he continues to face. Unfortunately in the NRL, he's not big enough to target the ball. He's got a very specific role in defense based on his body size, which unfortunately involves going low and at at pace, is very easy to get wrong.

Yeah i dunno about that. I keep coming back to Cameron Smith whose body shape & height pretty similar to Egan's imo (they both listed at 1.85m). Smith played 400 games & holds the NRL record for tackles. Not that i saw every tackle attempt of his but i can't remember him taking too many head knocks. And his usual technique when faced with a rampaging middle, when he wasn't being a grub that is, was to hit at ball height, then hold on. Seemed to work pretty well

I can see the logic behind Walker at 6. Mostly a defensive decision after the Sharks chewed up Volkman.

Can’t see the logic of not playing DWZ. He’s the only fast game-changing outside back we have. He’s an easy in for me.

It’s tough having Egan out again, and when Lussik gets a rest that means someone like Siro has to do some minutes at hooker which is not ideal. Walker can’t play there if he’s at 6.

At least Tohu is back.

Volkman should be on the bench instead of TT if walker is starting.

But I don't understand no DWZ. First really poor move made by Webster.
