This is why a good start to the season is so important. No one had us winning these 3 games (and we probably won't) but because we did the work early, we aren't completely f****d and are still in the 8.
Exactly. And we’re a good chance of picking up the maximum 6 points in the following 3 weeks- Dogs away, bye and Brisbane in Napier the weekend before Origin. That’ll have us sitting pretty good.

Team list trimmed to 19 with no changes, Lussick and Tuaupiki as 18 and 19

looks like Harris will be playing which will make a huge difference- hope he gets through the team ok

Love these games where there is nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Feeling very positive about our chances with Harris back.

We can win this. An upset is well within our reach here.

Pray to the footy gods for a fair go.

We haven’t had a fair go for at least two weeks. If ref is even I think we have a good shot.

Is there actually an issue with the refs? I 100% feel there is, but is it just our bias talking? It's hard to separate the two.

Surely if there are this many shit calls against us something would be done about it.

I guess it depends if you just watch the Warriors game only, or if you watch all or most of the other games. Saw some pretty dodgy decisions in the Raiders/Dogs game the night before. I guess if you watch them all, you might feel that the refs are just bad in general, but if you are only watching the Warriors only, you might think there is definite bias. Its the inconsistency between refs thats a major problem. A ref might have a hardon for certain behavior, whereas the next game the ref turns a blind eye for the same thing

I don't think it's all bias, although that does play into it somewhat naturally.

The high shot on Tohu not even being a penalty was a disgrace and we were on the move, the Chooks got away with a blatant shoulder charge and scored straight after, the Storm knock-on try was possibly 50/50 but to not involve the bunker at all was a joke, NAS just did whatever he felt like.

The opponents get some bad calls too, but it's always lopsided.

We can't underestimate how crucial all this is, given we were in a deep grind every week and rarely got attacking chances (our fault too at times). For us, 6 points either way is huge.

I should stress though that getting the rub of the green with refs doesn't guarantee wins; we often have our bench torn to shreds and don't have a lot of attacking imagination right now. I like where we're going, but there's work to be done.

TBH I’m dirtier about scheduling than refereeing. 3 games in 11 days, all against top teams, in Melbourne, Auckland, Brisbane so with significant and unavoidable travel as well. Meanwhile Melbourne got to play on the same days as us in weeks one and three of that sequence with a bye in between. We’re 9 weeks in and we’ve had 3 games in Auckland and one in Wellington, meaning more hot weather early season games in Aus and more home games when it’s cold and wet mid winter and the crowds don’t want to to turn up. None of that is doing us any favours at all

Agree with all this, I just don't get why we aren't making more noise. The shoulder charge last night, knock on try week before etc. There should be an acknowledgement from the club that we aren't happy and are asking for clarification.

Plus the scheduling is terrible. No idea why we lost a home game to magic round. After all the shit we've endured, we should be the first to get a leg up. We just seem to be really disrespected.

so we lose a game to magic round, and gain ONE game (thanks Tigers!) in NZ, which brings us back to even Stevens… but wait, OUR club has the decency to sacrifice TWO games at our home ground to take them to other parts of the country.
sp by my estimation we’ve had exactly 2/10ths of f**k-all in terms of a thank-you for the sacrifices the club put in to make it through the pandemic years.
