Why did they put Jake Marketo in on the bench and took Will Matthews out.
Will Matthews is needed against a souths giant pack.

I agree with Dino, not only should we have name players to back up our name players, we should also have name players to back up our back up name players.
I am personally prepared to suck c○☆k to make this happen. You with me on this one Dino?

Yeah right, we need name players like Dane Nielsen an ex-QLD Origin player not that nuffie Euan Aitken? Your kidding aren't you? Come on Dino, seriously the Saints players are playing out of the skin at the moment. No unnecessary changes needed especially picking blokes on reputation rather than form. Are you a NSW selector Dino?

In recent years, I would have been worried about losing Dugan to injury as he is an awesome player but, the way we have been playing at the moment he is not as crucial to our team in comparison with Benji and Gaz who have controlled the game beautifully. Pete brings the ball back hard and is good positionally as well. One advantage he does have is a good passing game if needed. Im still confident we can win without Dugan

I reckon our forwards will be absolutely pumped.
Frizz and Thommo will be told they are playing for an Origin jersey, as with Merrin. They will want to dominate the QLDers in this game and send a clear message to the selectors.
JDB will be running at trees all week that have pictures of the Burgess boys and Grant stuck to them just for practice. Cooper will be looking for recognition against his countrymen.
Will be a great game either way and if we win, will raise our hopes for bigger and better things.

Off topic, but I sort of disagree - I dont think we are bare, I think that the selectors gave backed themselves into a corner with their obsession with a) club combos and b) players picked on reputation/experience. The form half in NSW is Blake Austin, but for some reason they wont consider him seriously, instead going for proven plodders like Pearce or out of form plodders like J.Reynolds. A pairing of A.Reynolds (if fit, if not then Hodkinson) and Austin brings a combination of all the skills needed in a halves pairing.

Benny,

I agree with you with ref to Blake Austin, I think he could be a Origin player.

Also I'm sick to death of Pearce even being considered, after all the chances he has had.

If we go back to Pearce im willing to bet that the result will be the same.

Pearce would be a better choice than Hodkinson. Talk about a player that is out of form. He has been deadset aweful in every game I have seen him play in. At least Pearce has shown some leadership and has played some decent footy at the back end of last year and this year.

I would go Blake Austin and Pearce. Or Pearce and Maloney and put Blake on the bench. Blake deserves a spot in the NSW team that is for sure. If Adam Reynolds is fit I would pick him for sure as he has proved he can handle big games winning a GF. Sutton/Reynolds should also be considered if they are fit and raring to go.

Thank god our halves won't take part in Origin as they have outplayed the 2 incumbent halves in Maloney/Pearce and Reynolds/Hodkinson.
