I'm going to play devil's advocate on Kata. I thought he made some really good decisions defensively last week and made his front-on tackles throughout most of the game. Then as Maumalo continued to get worse and worse, it permeated through to Kata. A few times he came up, made strong decisions and shut down JT and others. If he had a Nightingale etc outside him his development might be further along the line.

And dropping him for a departing player would be silly, even for Cappy (who did it last week with RFM/Lousi so don't count it out)

Plus giving Kata a bloody rest (which won't happen, but I will continue with my wishful thinking).

The hint is in the second word. COACH. If someone has a shocker, ala Maumalo, coach him. Get your defensive coach to do it, whatever the system is. He treats our side like a fantasy line-up, pick someone until they go badly then swap them. Except if they're Kata.

It just shits me that Maumalo gets dropped and we bring in someone who's leaving the club. Someone who hasn't been good enough all year, is not good enough to keep but is good enough to play? Or is it trying to save his arse from a possible wooden spoon/axing when playing Ken and getting him to work through it would be better than saying bugger off to NSW Cup?

We all remember Parra 07. Ivan actually did some coaching and sorted Manu out, when no one would've begrudged him dropping him. But then again, Ivan can coach.

The RFM one is truly absurd. He was massive against the Roosters, and a few games later he's cut for Sione f*cking Lousi, who was useless well before we decided he wasn't good enough and let him go.

Ika I can understand because we have no props left, but Allwood and Lousi shouldn't be playing - because there are two guys in NSW Cup who conceivably have something to offer us in the future.
