Telstra Dome Dimensions

Now, as someone who has poor memories from our year at the Dome, I am not thrilled about playing there next week, however.

Does anyone know, will the Dome be marked out with the identical dimensions that we play to week in week out at Olympic Park.?

I highly doubt it, the reason those dimensions are done at olympic park is because of the running track. I would imagine they would be the normal measurements, i hope im wrong though

I hope the players view the place as a shiit hole and not be overawed or become too self conscious by the enclosed atmosphere. Its a shiit hole where AFL is played.

It's a fine stadium where football is played.

The round ball football. But the Victory should be strung up for having delayed the rectangle stadium so much.

My opinion of Telstra Dome is that they should bring all the AFL players and journalists together on the pitch for a bonding session and have Mark Murray give them a speech, then, before they leave, fill the freakin' thing with water.

Should be okay, Geyer played there in 2001 and there was a State Of Origin and test match played there last year so the likes of King and Smith are familiar with it, and unlike in the Muppet years the boys will get a chance to train on the ground, two chances in fact - tomorrow and Saturday.

IT'S ON!

THE NRL was last night asked to ensure the ground dimensions at Telstra Dome for Sunday's preliminary final between Melbourne Storm and Parramatta are legal.

Parramatta chief executive Denis Fitzgerald has submitted a request that the game's governing body oversee ground markings to make sure they meet guidelines. Storm's regular home ground, Olympic Park, is short in width and in-goal depth.

Melbourne has won 30 of its past 31 matches at the venue. But Fitzgerald said Melbourne should, like all other teams, play on a full-size field in the finals. "Melbourne is the only team that has a home ground which is a mini-field," Fitzgerald said. "I will be requesting that the NRL chief operating officer Graham Annesley do a survey on the ground to ensure Telstra Dome meets the minimum requirements in terms of width and in-goal depth."

Storm chief executive Brian Waldron fired a shot back at Fitzgerald. "Given Denis's concerns, we welcome him down to Melbourne as early as possible this week to mark the ground himself," Waldron said last night.
