It remains to be seen whether Tesi will be the long term fullback at the Broncos, but it's a nice reward for him after he took his opportunity against the Raiders. He's shown flashes of potential for the Broncos and he can run the ball well but he's going to have to keep improving if he wants to nail down the #1 jersey.

It should be a good contest this weekend when he faces off against Reece Walsh. Walsh would have been the heir apparent if he didn't take the generous contract from the Warriors.

Who do you believe is the broncos long term fullback? With Niu being resigned,
the wraps on Cobbo and reports over the weekend we were interested in Manu which hasn’t been confirmed, it would be interesting to know who they view as the long term solution.

Cobbo is seen as the most likely of the two with Niu eventually moving into the centres once he fixes his tackle technique. Selwyn is still very raw, he's yet to do a full NRL pre-season but he's a solid prospect. Personally I see him more as a centre but he's largely been a fullback since playing there for the Seagulls U/18s in 2020.

Obviously if they can land a Joey Manu all bets are off but that's a big if.

Nui looks likely to be a fantastic fullback who just needs to work on his ball playing skills. But hey - all the great fullbacks take time to develop that attribute - Slater, Boyd, Tedesco all took time. Give him time.

He seems too small for the centres, and not up to tackling edge forwards.

After watching the Q Cup Grand Final, I tend to agree about Cobbo. Should be the first choice fullback next year.

The only problem with having Cobbo at fullback is that it opens the opportunity for Isaako to get back into the team. Let's hope Perera or someone else has a good offseason.

It appears Tesi Niu will be released from the final year of his contract with the Knights firming as his likely destination.

This was always on the cards after Brisbane signed Reece Walsh and it should give the Broncos some wriggle room with their squad. The thing is, Brisbane have other options in Cobbo and Farnworth and since Niu doesn't have that much versatility to his game it's a roster spot that's going to waste.

I feel for Tesi because of how he was coached during his development. He was thrown into the deep end without a clear goal and was asked to play one of the most important roles in the modern game. At 22 he still has time, but he really needs to go to a quality system and learn under the best players just to remain switched on.
