Thank christ that this competition contains the Eels and Sharks...

They're all that's going to stop us from hitting the cellar of the competition with a very, very loud thud.

Attrocious today in Canberra. All the ball, all the penalties. Absolutely pathetic.

Out attack is crap and revolves around the one player ie. Terry Campese. Justin Carney hasn't been the player I thought he might be either. I hate to say it, but our attack seems to be a lot similar to when Mr.Elliott was here. :?

completely agree.

the spoon is the only thing this team can win.

the dogs should have won by alot more than 10; canberra couldn't finish their tackles or wrap up the ball.

last tackle options have been terrible. Has the bomb to monas worked once this season? no.

why do they keep persisting with it???

I know Troy Thompson has been a good servant but I think he needs time at Souths Logan to build up his match fitness. Has been a liability of late. If Logan is not back next week, better off giving Joyce a run. Also have concerns over our back row i.e. Miller and Picker. Picker hasn't been effective and Miller is caught between back row and front row. Time for Joel Thompson and Plum to come in. One for defence and the other to give us more thrust in attack. Tilse looked good and TLL was outstanding.

Clearly Campo was not fit and this impacted on the backline, however I also think it is time for Graham and Milne to come back in. Take your pick of Purtell, Carney and Croker as those to be replaced. I wouldn't be disappointed if both Dugan and Croker went back to the NYC for a while, purely for long term benefits rather than form. McCrone showed enough to think he will be our 7 for some time, pity his debut coincided with Campo and Tongue both not being 100%. Not prepared to right us off just yet but a loss to Panthers at home next week could be the first nail in the coffin.

We need Milne and Graham back we need points!

agree , for mine , Carney and Purts back to SL.
Our attack is disjointed , Campo needs to run more , also can they shove the kick to monnas up their ass , its a failed moved , it doesnt work.

Dugan has been great , Croker as well , Id slot Monas to the wing , he stands too wide leaving little room for his winger to operate in and never passes to him for that reason.

1.Dugan
2. Monas
3.Graham
4.Croker
5.milne

I dont believe some of you blokes, fair dinkum, triples all round.
 Good call.

You can blame most of the forwards for that loss. Miller and Picker didn't turn up while Thommo got injured early and Tonguey got his shin cork which didn't help.

We didn't roll forward in the second half like we should have.

Dugan was great, as was Monaghan for a change. Good to see McCrone getting him early ball. Good debut from him.

Buttriss did a good job for his first week back, which made Waddell a bit of a passenger on the bench, but I can appreciate why he was put there with a question mark over poor old Campo (who was throwing up before the game).

Carney might need a week or two at Souths logan, but other than that I see no reason to change the team.

Oh, and the refs were sh*t again. Two bulldog trys off forward passes. Joke.

Milne needs to be brought back in! He was one of out main attacking weapons, it's ridiculous that he's been taken out of the team. Dugan back to under 20's for a few weeks. Carney is also hopeless and seems to run sideways everytime he gets the ball. I though Purtell played well yesterday and Monaghan aswell.

Now Im hearing all these players that most want out , like Thompson and picker.

I said this at the very start of the season and most called me an idiot not wanting them in the squad and as well laughing at me when i said TLL should be prop, now look how well he goes at prop now.
We need a quality halfback desperatly and Purtell has to go, bring in Vidot.
It does look like the offloads are not in Furners game plans and that sucks cause that swhen we played so well

Watching with utter frustration at the fact just two good halves of football (1st halves v WTG and NQL) have been played by the Raiders in 2009... 2 from 14... how good are they doing...

Just my viewpoint but it looks like the game plan has gone from ball movement as the focal point to bashing it up with our 'huge' front row and looking for opportunities off that.

In theory the second option might be attractive and seems to be the way the NRL has gone game plan wise over the past half dozen years but what I can't get over or forget is how ridiculously effective the Raiders were with the first option - down on troops - last year.

That kind of football wins games in a mediocre competition because everyone else is trying to win 'conventionally', now the Raiders are going conventional and the lack of points are a direct result of that. In short - the Raiders don't have the individual talent to play a conventional game and win regularly. And talent isn't what made the Raiders so deadly last year - it was an emphasis on using the whole field and stretching the defence.

Kicking as your primary attacking option makes you mediocre... passing it around and moving the 'chains' to borrow an NFL term - makes you potent and very hard to defend against because it is like nothing anyone is used to playing against.

I remember watching the first game against the tigers and alot of our attack in that first half was played like last years. Since then it's been relatively boring.

Dropping Dugan from fullback would be a stupid move. If Milne is to play it is on the wing. Dugan was the entire difference between us winning and losing the Sharks game. Milne would not have made those tackles that Dugan made.

His attack needs work (mostly he needs to put on a few kilos probably) but Dugan is a better attacker than Milne is a defender.

I'm a bit torn to be honest.

I think Picker was average because he is a genuine 80 minute player and Furnace seems to be hell-bent on using him as an impact player, a role he is not suited for.

Also unless you plan on rotating your hookers, Waddell on the bench is a total waste.

I think Plum and Flanagan have to come back in - they tackle their hearts out and our defence was tissue paper thin yesterday.

As for the backs, Purtell has to go for Milne or Graham, and it has to be this weekend. Carney gets one more life. The more I see of Carney the sadder I get. It's not that he's bad, it's that he's going nowhere near his potential.

As for Croker and Dugan, they're doing fine. Stick with them. I don't know if Dugan is ready for the added pressure of being a goalkicker yet. Hopefully that was just because Campese was ill.

My team for Penrith would be:

1-J.Dugan
2-P.Graham
3-J.Croker
4-J.Monaghan
5-J.Carney
6-T.Campese
7-J.McCrone
8-D.Shillington
9-G.Buttriss
10-D.Tilse
11-J.Picker
12-B.Harrison
13-A.Tongue

14-T.Learoyd-Lahrs
15-J.Miller
16-N.Plum
17-S.Flanagan
