I've got a Samsung 64" 3D plasma and have no issue with watching the footy, the HD quality is amazing.

Only problem now though is that it is too small, want the 100" now!

fmd - I'm desperate to find a decent one 50" or under .... I don't think I'd have a wall big enough for 100 - lol

You can't really go past Rank Arena. My old B&W has really stood the test of time. You can even get a coloured cellophane thingy to put over the screen to jazz it up a bit.

Yeh....and depending on what channels you watch/ have access to, you have to remember that the bigger the screen the more you will be aware of defects/limitations in the picture resolution. Watching Channel 9's football telecasts (filmed in HD but transmitted in SD) gets worse as you go up in size. The same game rebroadcast in HD on Fox, however, is another thing.

HD is amazing on my TV, you are not wrong about channel 9's ordinary SD.

I've got a Sony 50" and it's great. I'm pretty sure it's 200Mhz and I don't have any issues with the footy.
Being in SA I don't even have to worry about channel 9's SD coverage as we get the footy on Gem so it's in HD.

I've also got a smaller Sony that is only 50Mhz (I think). It's still pretty good and I'm happy enough watching the footy on that too.

yeh, there's no huge problem with SD sports shot with SD cameras. But when they shoot the footage with HD cameras and convert it down to SD to show on SD channel it's pretty poor.
