funny how he is one of the best in Oz yet Doofus Dailey gives the special one a run on the wing for the Blooos

he doesn't exactly get much opportunity to get involved with ball playing on the wing

he needs to be closer to the ruck to exploit all his box of tricks for mine

Centre's hardly a ball-playing position either.

I agree he should be playing in the middle of the field. I'd have him at fullback ahead of anyone but I'm probably biased.

Hayne is a freak. Wing isn't his position because he doesn't get enough ball.

Against strong opposition centres get less ball than wingers. At least on the wing you get to carry the ball on kick returns and exit sets.

The one thing centre does more than wing is tackle.

In last night's two games the eight wingers carried the ball 90 times between them. The eight centres had 66 combined carries.

Quality over quantity, Hayne's carries were much better than any other wing or center on the field.

Oh, and there were nine wingers, Radradra replaced Koroibete in the second half.

That's because he's Jarryd Hayne, playing against a team getting dominated up the middle. He would have dominated no matter what position he played.

In most cases the wingers had more carries for more metres than their centres.

On the left Darius Boyd outplayed Brent Tate:

Boyd: 10 runs, 2 tackle breaks, 3 linebreaks, 121 metres, 2 tries
Tate: 9 runs, 1 tackle break, 1 linebreak assist, 77 metres

Hayne outplayed Morris for two reasons. Firstly he's a much better player, and secondly Morris just wasn't required.

Oh, and there were nine wingers, Radradra replaced Koroibete in the second half.

I know. I treated them as one player, combining their stats. Treat it as 640 wing minutes rather than eight wingers, if you prefer.

If you don't believe me, add it up.

A lot of people have bagged Hayne saying he's not in the same league as Inglis, Slater, etc. This World Cup has shown that if Hayne has some quality players around him he is not only in their league, but quite possibly better. Especially considering he can play in any position he's asked to. On player ratings, he's been given 9.5 on NRL.com the last two games. Man of the Match Thurston only scored 9 against Fiji and they mentioned Hayne was unlucky not to receive the award.

How good will it be for him (and the rest of the club) if we do become a top 4 team in the next few years considering his loyalty to the club during these dark years.

Gee, if we went on the basis of player ratings on NRL.com the world would be a much simpler place. I'm not sure who exactly has suggested that Hayne is not in the same league as Inglis, Slater etc. What is true is that it has been harder to line him up with them on a weekly basis b/c he has rarely played in a dominant team with us. He is better in some respects than the guys you mention. We'll hopefully find out whether he's better in other respects. And pray that his knees hold up.

I reckon he's a better winger than a centre.

I disagree, certainly during his younger years yes, but now Hayne is older and smarter. I also reckon he's lost a little speed off the mark, which would be more useful as a winger At centre he still has the ability to put his winger away or go himself with his speed, strength and foot work. I'm Thinking he is Jamie Lyon mark 2. His defence appears rock solid wherever he plays

Not saying he should play centre for the eels (not writing it off either) but at the very least in the Aussie set up he offers more as a centre than on the wing. IMO of course.

It's seriously not hard to play better then Tate.

My fullback rankings currently are:
1. Inglis
2. Hayne
Gap
3. Slater.

I think Hayne and Inglis have taken the fullback position to another level. And I think the gap between the 2 isn't very big at all.
Bring on the 2014 Hayne, I have a feeling it's gonna be an almighty show.
