It was good to see Singo on the Footy Show the other night put to bed some silly speculation about the Bears. The Bears have made very substantial and credible representations to the News/NRL and they have been very favourbaly received. The Bears are struggling in Premier League at the moment, they posted a win against the Jets at Bear Park last week but got done by Manly, which was very galling, at Brookvale on Sat nite.
The Bears are debt free, have paid their debts in full and final satisfaction and are in a very healthy financial position.
They will play in the red and black with North Sydney 1908 on the emblem alongside the Central Coast.
I would prefer to see them play next year, 2004, but it appears that 2005 may be a scenario.
With some astute buying and cultivating the local talent and with a credible coach then the Bears will make an enormous addition to the NRL.
The News/NRL cannot buy the sort of league tradition that the Bears can offer and to see them back in the top grade and pushing for the semis will be a welcome relif after these too many of absence!
