After my own internal review I have conducted well just now here are my findings and fixes.

1. The team has lacked discipline and leadership. Gutherson has to hand over the captaincy to Alvaro.

2. Go forward. I think this has been adressed with two big bodies in Ferguson and Jnr. If we re sign Hayne the backline looks set. Id be looking to release Manu if could secure a boom 2nd rower. I'd also look at a few young Props. Hethrington would be the first guy I'd look at.

3. Goal kicking. Another area not fixed and may of won us a few games this season. Such an important part of our game.

4. Juniour system overhaul. NSW cup should be best young prospects developing into first graders. Untill we have half the NRL team full of juniors it will lack heart. Dont care if we poach them from other clubs. Id like to see majority of NSW cup players no older then 25.

5. Coach - Unfit. Afl guy can take his run mechanics and be first replaced.

6. Attacking coach. A big must. Let BA manage the squad but attacking structure and plays need to be done by someone more tactically brilliant.

7. Duke/BS style role. I'd like someone to oversee all purchases and re signings. Not confident in the players BA has put faith in over th years.

8.No dickhead policy went out the window. KE had 4 offenses before the club sacked him. In end where burnt. They also had chance to stay away from Norman but looks like he wont be here and club maybe burnt again. Makes me scratch head about JNR and rumours of Segy. Discipline on the field starts with guys recruiting.


Lets see if Mcguire comes up with much else for whatever he charges.

This! I said in the other thread that we lost 4 games by 2 points. If we had kicked a few goals, we may have been higher up the ladder. It would be disappointing not heartbreaking. Agree on most of the others.

I don't have time to read this yet because I have a good idea for a thread that I need to start before I forget it but I can tell it is going to be good.

Basis? Not only for lack of player leadership but also why Alvaro would be better than Gunco?

What's the best practice for moving players from youth comps to NSW Cup? What age? If they are all younger than 25, who are they developing into first graders off?

I don't even... are you saying BA is unfit? Physically? And been reported here that AFL guy has already been moved on

Who? Or do we take a punt and possibly end up with AFL guy as attacking coach? (Kicking might improve). Is it necessary if all the other changes are made?

There's some flaws but I'm trying to remain civil, but generally agree and I seem to recall it being reported that the club were looking at that as a priority already.

Agree re Edwards/Norman, the issue is their offences tend to go big issue e.g. Normzie casino incident, Kenny dodgy leak followed by period of good behaviour followed by trivial incident e.g. Normzie taking a drink followed by further good behaviour. You can't just sack someone for being a dickhead, even if they are a public figure. And weren't you the one stating players shouldn't just be sent to the scrapheap? How long must Paulo/Segeyaro keep good behaviour before we'd entertain signing them? Are either of them worse behaved than premiership winning Bitchell Pearce?

Of whats available currently I remain of the belief that Gutho is our best leader. Granted his current form is not great but I think he proved himself last season. Similar to RTS, I reckon his ACL recovery will require another pre season to see the Return of the King.
Im a big fan of Polar but I just feel he offers Mannah like leadership qualities.

We lost six games this year where we scored the same amount of tries as our opposition. Incidentally, our goal kicking wouldn't have mattered in those games. The main difference was ill-discipline within kicking range, gifting the other teams kicks at goal and all those penalty goals were kicked.

Leadership expert and consultant Shane McCurry has been called on to assist with the review of the Eels’ football department following a season of abject disappointment for the club.

McCurry, who has also been intimately involved at Wests Tigers in a consultancy capacity, will be assisted by former Australian fullback Greg Brentnall and ex-Sydney Swans player Rob Kerr.

We need to get better at the politics.
For example we should petition to get our coach or whoever onto that rules committee thing. It always seems to be Bennett or Robinson on those committees. Everything that comes up we should have someone on the board.
We should also get the referees boss out to the ground for our training runs and BBQs any time possible.
Another thing is the salary cap auditor. I think the last 3 have been Rooster fans. The current one should get fired and we should appoint someone from Parra.
We should try to get NRL headquarters moved from Rooster territory out to the home of RL in the West. Either ANZ or the new Western Sydney Stadium would be a good place.

we dont need a new first grade every year,

we only need 1 or 2 players, which is why some will go to other clubs if they are NRL worthy
