The Cake Tin to get more games

Yes, it's true, it's true.

The Stadium management have put a package together and it has caught the Warriors management's attention. The Warriors will look at bringing 2 of their home games to the Cake Tin, so us Wellingtonians can enjoy 3 League games next season.

BTW, I also hate people calling it the Cake Tin, but it just can't be helped. It's probably thanks to the Auckland media that the name kicked off, jealous pricks. But even I have to admit, it bloody looks like a cake tin as well. It was either that or The Tuna Can, not Wellington's greatest looking building.

I believe the "Cake Tin" came from the media looking for a way aroundusing the sponsor's name. If you listen to the radio or read the paper you'll see journalists usingsome sponsors' names ad nauseum, while for other names they'll goout of theirwayto avoid mentioning them. The Cake Tin is just one of thenames I seebeing used - others I've heard are the Wellington Stadium, theNational Stadium and so on. Apparently the April Ieremia's of this world are told by their superiorsto avoid therealnames like the plague untilcompanies like WestpacTrustcough up some cash.

Anyway, I've just read the articlefeaturing this story on nzherald.co.nz. How does it feel to be treated like a pawn, Warrior? That's how I feel. Wellington hasthefacilities, proven crowd numbers and nowmost importantly, a guaranteefrom the Stadium management of doublethe amount of money they are making from the average game at Ericsson. What's more, the Warriors are tradingonour nation's name andusing ournationalcolour tomarket themselves. There is no way you can argue againstthe case Wellington has put forward, so why are they trying to?

Mick Watson has no interest in following my vision of voluntarily creating a flagshipfor the gamethroughout NZ, and will only venture southas a last resort. Even then, how do we knowthe talk of these twogames next yearbeing "feasible" (jeez, you'vebeen givena bloodyguarantee of doubling your cash-isn't that "feasible" enough for you?!), how do we knowitisn't justmore propaganda BS to get a good crowdtomorrow night?Remember the Kingz didexactly that - a fewmonths ago they were "lookingseriously" at shiftingtheir base down here, they get their highest ever home crowd, andthisseason they don't even giveWellingtonagame!

Some mayquestion why I bother supporting theWarriors likeI do after saying what I've said, but this really has nothing to do with theteam of playersI cheer for. I love following league and supporting NZ league players, but I'm starting to have very little time for the arrogance andlack ofintegrity the Warriors management are demonstrating.
