Manly's major signing. He has been signed and will go straight into Manly's starting line-up to replace Daniel Heckenberg who has been released by the club.

Scott 7 6 13 br Signed from UndertakerMike
Scott has his chance to secure a 1st grade position and was signed to replace departing secondrower Sam Harris

Hickey 4 5 9 br Signed from Pistol
Styles 6 5 br Signed from Caged Panther
O'Hallaron 5 6 Signed from Caged Panther

Manly have also signed the above 3 players for the PL side but will get a chance in the top grade if injuries come into play.

Manly's recruiting is finished providing I get the all clear from Misty. I know there's a couple of more drafts but over the past few years Manly have been happy with the performance of our squad. Hence, Manly carefully targeted 5 players and have spent up to their salary cap. There will be no more signings by the Manly club unless there are any issues with the signing of Kite!!

I figure this CRL VIII, with injuries coming into play, you have to have a fairly balanced spread of players.

Sea Eagles ready to soar!

The Manly Sea Eagles/Gosford Cougars have announced a very strong side the the up & coming CRL VIII season.

I spoke to the Manly coach and asked him about the new signings "I'm very happy with the new guys who have started training and are fitting in very well with the rest of the squad" A very upbeat swoop said.

"We have one of the best training facilities and with the Body Science Company continuing their association with the club I expect Manly to be a major threat in this competition"

"Steve Menzies started training for 2006 in November last season and didn't have a break but says he is feeling strong and healthy."

"That is a salute to our training programs, the rehabilitation we have in place and the supplements we monitor which are provided through our sponsorship with Body Science. It is a professional combination and achieving the right results for us in the CRL premiership" He said.

I also spoke to the new signings at the club and asked why they decided to sign with Manly when they could have got more money elsewhere:

"It's nothing to do with money. It's the chance of playing under the best coach it the CRL. Swoop is a great coach and I expect Manly to feature in the semi-finals. I think we can go all the way and win the comp" said prized recruit Brent Kite.

"Undertakermike is an alright coach but to have the chance to play under Swoop, who is a master tactitition, very focussed with lots of innovative ideas and an all round good bloke is what swayed me to join Manly" Scott said

"If you want to advance your career and not be stuck in PL the best option for us was to sign with Manly and play under supercoach swoop. At Penrith it was the same thing each training session which got a bit boring and we felt our careers would stall. Mark & myself spoke before leaving Penrith and decided the best way to advance our careers was to sign with Manly." Styles said

Mark O'hallaron said "Caged Panther is a good coach but if you compare him to swoop, well it's chalk and cheese. Manly have a great bunch of blokes and these is a buzz around the place, great facilities and a well managed club. It's just so professional it's given me a new lease of life and I feel keener than ever to have a good season and try to break into 1st grade."

Hickey, who is also keen to impress, said "I've been languishing in PL and struggling for form and I also decided that my best option was to play under supercoach swoop. He has improved the careers of many young players and that's why I moved to the Northern beaches".

How will Manly go in CRL VIII? Time will tell, but it seems to to a very professionaly run club and I can tell you that the playersat Manly are very confident of a great season under coach swoop.
