Great article in todays Big League about Mick Cronin. Nothing long but a great read about one of the greatest players to not only play for the Eels but League in general..

I remember him like winning heaps of matches for Parra when all there stars were in representative fixtures back in the 80s.

He and Zip Zip were one awesome combo. Zip Zip the elusive runner and Grothe running off Cronin was just a sight to see.

Lucky back then they had Bert at 5/8th. If Wagon, was born a few decades earlier, Cronin, Zip Zip, Grothe would have been nobodies coz the Wagon dummy would've ensured they had no ball !!

Almost didn't come to Parramatta because he had promised he would play for Canterbury if he ever did come to Sydney. Terry Fearnley had to speak to the Dogs and have them confirm to Mick that it was ok.

The scary think is he was 26 yrs old in 1976 when he first came to Sydney. He would have been an immortal had he came when he was 20 or 21 IMO.

He is the most genuine person I have ever had the pleasure to meet. :D
