so we know the name is ‘The Dolphins’ and by the colours seen so far looks like they will go with a predominantly red jersey with gold and white as secondary colours on it. Done well will make for a very nice kit.
logo Wise I think the one they’ve presented so far is not as good as the one on the sign at the stadium which is a bit more aggressive and compact compared to the flipper upright one seen at the launch.

My advice is that they call themselves Redcliff.

Be proud of it and tell everyone else to get f**ked. Even if you don't intend to play most games there.

Easts, Canterbury and Balmain tried to call themselves "Sydney". Cronulla tried to just be The Sharks. It was all shit.

You're a club with a history. Stick with Redcliff.

They have clearly decid3d they need to move beyond their Redcliffe identity. ChaniI got club colours and name. I th8nk it’s a bit stupid not having any geographical identifier but I do agree with them creating some distance from the small suburban identity of the Redcliffe dolphins.

Dolphins bid director and general manager Terry Reader has been forced to defend the controversial decision to axe Redcliffe from the name of the team that will enter the NRL in 2023.

Reader was grilled on the topic by Peter FitzSimons on Nine's Sports Sunday.

The NRL on Monday confirmed the Dolphins had won the race to be the NRL's newest team.

In a change the left many scratching their heads, they decided to take the geographical location "Redcliffe" out of their name, despite the rest of their club's teams being called the Redcliffe Dolphins.

According to Reader, the architect behind the club's successful bid, the club's decision was made as part of a goal to "have a broader appeal" to NRL fans.
"The Redcliffe Dolphins will always exist and they will play in the Queensland Cup and they're the most successful team in the Queensland Cup era," Reader told Sports Sunday.

"But the Dolphins national brand differentiates itself from Redcliffe.
"The game has a massive opportunity to have a broader appeal, especially here in Queensland... we only have one team in Brisbane, now we have two.

"We will be honouring our past and always taking note of our traditions, but this going into the future."

FitzSimons questioned why the club would ditch the Redcliffe branding given its rich history, which was previously home to rugby league Immortal Arthur Beetson, who played for and coached the side.

"You've got this proud history, you've been there since 1947," FitzSimons said.

"The great Artie Beetson played for you. Why on earth, when you've got this glorious future in front of you... why would you cut off half your identity?

"Could you be more disrespectful to the town, the area, who you are."

Reader went on the defensive.

"We're certainly not cutting off the identity, that will remain in the Queensland Cup and it's part of our pathway where hopefully many boys and girls get the opportunity to go on and play at the highest level," Reader said.
"Our club will be more than just Redcliffe. Brisbane is bigger than just the CBD now, we happen to be situated in the fastest growing area in Queensland."

FitzSimons didn't stop, challenging Reader for a better response.

"There will be new traditions that will honour the past," Reader added.

"An Immortal, Arthur Beetson, we've already got things in play we want to bring to life to honour that.

"There will be many things that link back to the history and that won't be forgotten."

Why do all teams with Red and White (and more) decide to be vague with representation?

You mean city identity. Redcliffe is a suburb in Redcliffe City, now part of MBRC. It has never been a suburb of Brisbane.

No I mean the suburb of Redcliffe. There is no city of Redcliffe anymore. Its an outer suburb of Brisbane metro sitting in a LGA of MBRC. I live in a suburb in the city of Joondalup LGA but its still a perth metro suburb lol

Are we talking about what council the suburb of Redcliffe now falls under or the clubs identity which has nothing to do with Brisbane?

The Redcliffe Dolphins is named after the original City and the whole area/suburbs that were in that city and now form part of MBRC (which was essentially Redcliffe City Council for all intents and purposes taking over the Caboolture and Pine Rivers Shires but getting called MBRC out of politics as Redcliffe were forced into it). It did not just represent a suburb of Brisbane, but you can stay incorrect if you want. Wouldn't be a first for you. Its like saying all the Metro Sydney teams only come from the suburbs/cities in their name.

Its no secret the Greater Brisbane Metro Area is made up of Brisbane City, MBRC, Logan City, Ipswich City, Redland Bay City and Logan City. Suburbs and QRL teams from those other council areas do not identify themselves as representatives of Brisbane (City), there are plenty of other teams that identify with that, Redcliffe Dolphins is not one of them.

By removing the location this nrl licence could end up anywhere. That could be the point, create a brand and asset that can be sold and relocated. Where do you think the Dolphins could end up?

Reports coming out that Adventure Kings are signing on as the major sponsor. Adventure Kings unfortunately have a blue logo which would look terrible with their colours
