The Good The Bad The Ugly

I want to look at tonights game from two different perspectives.

From a Coaching point of veiw, it was a much better performance than last week and something to build on. I actually counted 4 phases of play in the one tackle which is excellant. The boys turned up tonight and had a dig. We are building to something very good and we are making steps in the right direction. Special mention to Reick, Kimmorley and Sullivan who went really well tonight.

From a supporters point of veiw it was extremely disappointing not to win the game. I know that Peachey is having a dig, but if we had a back up fullback ready to go I would put him in. Peachey's lack of discipline is disgraceful. His grubber in traffic where they picked the ball up to score along with his spell in the bin cost us 12 points.

McGoldrick is not up to First Grade standard, I am sure most sgree with that. I don't beleive that Hilder is up to the standard at the moment either. I think he is a good defender, but he really lacks penetration in attack. Bailey also needs to really pull his head in as well.

Regarding the referee, there were no doubt we copped the bad end of the stick BUT we need to rise above all of that and not be so petty. The fact is that Sullivan dropped the ball in good field position close to the line as did Bird off a goal line drop out. We had our chances and didn't take them. Simple.

The defensive effort was outstanding I have to say. A run away try and a charge down were 12 Bulldogs points. It was a great team efoort in defence.

All in all if I had asked most supporters if they would be satisfied to lose by 4 would they be happy??? I guess the majority would say yes, although the game was definately there for the taking AND THAT is what could cost us at the end of the year.

No Fizman, I not satisfied, mate. This Shark fan doesn't think losing is good enough. A much better effort by the team, but I'm absolutely gutted, and angry. Losing like that hurts too bloody much.

I'm never satisfied with a loss but I see where your coming from. Much improved performance but we really must win the next 4 fours games against Manly, Souths, NQ and Canberra or we will be giving away too much of a start.

Definetly agree with that statement

Please let me make myself clear, I am not satisfied with the result either. We should have won that game tonight. Dropped ball and poor discipline cost us very dearly tonight.

Have we forgotten how to win?
We sure as hell had control of that game and let it go.
If we win next week we will make the 8. If we lose its bye bye already.

2 losses P/D = - 10
However we should have won.
Improvement still needed, but there is plenty of scope for it.
Disappointed after 2 games, but have seen improvement from last year.
Goal kicking is my greatest concern at this stage of the season.

That could be a little drastic. I think we'll do well against Manly, but if not there are still 21 more victory opportunities

Just as they did last year. These 2 areas are probably the simplest facets of the game to control and unless we can improve dramatically in these areas we are no chance of making the finals.

It did look like the boys forgot how to win at stages.

Next week they should put 60 on Manly if we play like they did tonight. Sharks turn up for the big games but I fear for them in the easier ones.

I agree considering we were all over them!!!!! Last week we played crap, this week we played good and still we lost.

A loss is a loss and a win and a win. Same problems as the pre-Anderson time - after getting out to 12-0 we didn't put the pedal down. Some stupid plays also cost us.

We can swallow this loss because we played with a lot of heart and matched it with one of the best sides going around.

Everyone is disappointed with the loss, but at least we have some positives to take out of this one

I was overwhelmingly positive after the game and put most of the blame on the ref

Now that my blood pressure has returned to normal I see too many negatives

- we couldnt go on with the job, which was often the case pre-anderson
- leading players nutley, peachey and bailey all giving away penalties, committing unforced errors and generally not providing the leadership they should
- we wont win the comp without a decent goalkicker, simple
