You guys are both right

London has been in super league for decades previously

Crowds of 5k dropped to 3k

They’ve tried brigend (wales) Sheffield Paris and Gateshead

But Toronto could’ve worked if they weren’t so insular

I can’t say I’m familiar with how much of an effort was put into attempting to grow the game in London let alone those other places ..it’s not like crowds of 3-5k are unheard of in the game over there, particularly 30 years when the likes of the London Broncos were around ..

The former owner has put in tens of millions of pounds into them (admittedly some said on the wrong things)

Former owners including Brisbane broncos and Richard Branson who both gave up

Harlequins union side tried too by remanding them Quins and playing at the stoop and they gave up too

See how the new owners go running it. But the name hounds is awful

If Toronto owner put money into London instead they'd still be around and a top side I have no doubt.

They played one off games in London way back in the 1930s that got 30k

Needs a rich owner to cover the millions of pounds it loses each year

Honest question - are the bigger teams in the north also reliant on these rich benefactors too ? Or do they stand on their own two feet ?

They are now because the tv deal got cut in half

The big clubs since Covid can lose up to 2 million pounds pa which is crazy

And many own their own grounds too

Leeds Wigan st Helen’s lose multi millions

Hull kr manage to lose around 500k pa on lower crowds than the likes of Wigan and Leeds

Les Catalans seem to run at a profit

The situation was very different pre Covid and the tv deal being cut

Some of the losses are due to depreciation on the grounds they own

Leeds ground has loans of around 60 million pounds owing

Whilst saints and Warrington own them without bank finance

20 to 27 million pounds invested on them under his ownership
That’s loose change compared to what the sugar daddys spend in French rugby.

it seems to be the business model over in the uk\france.

spend more than you can afford and a sugar daddys will cover your loses.

I see in England the Newcastle Union team has been bailed out by red bull.

its just how it works over there.

I think what he was getting at are the demographic changes that have stemmed from the UKs disasterous immigration policies. The population is more likely to identify with your avatar nowadays than with RLs long and proud history in Bradford or anything traditionally English.
Canterbury seem to be doing ok for fans lol

So you want two clubs that bring virtually zero viewers to tv, how’s that going to help the new tv deal?
London brings loads of viewers

A huge chunk of sky viewers are from down south

And you were perfectly happy with the Perth offering little new viewers and relying on eastern states viewers

Juniors
Huge numbers of viewers
You’d have to see if sky viewers for SL have dropped since London were relegated, I’d suggest not ergo they aren’t London broncos fans watching because of London Being in SL.
Broncos, or whatever their next name is, require millions a year and far better and more creative owners than we’ve seen so far. They’ll never be a big club but a sustainable one would be nice!

That’s a different argument to saying they’ve offered nothing to super league in 27 years

Building a sustainable club in London now that’s never happened in 130 years that’s the challenge
