"The halves are generally responsible."

"St George Illawarra halfback Nathan Fien concedes he and fellow playmaker Jamie Soward have to take responsibility and fix the Dragons' misfiring attack.

The Dragons, whose attack was the worst in the NRL in 2012, have scored just three tries in two games in 2013, including just one to prop Michael Weyman in Friday night's 22-6 loss to Brisbane in Wollongong.

The home side looked slow, predictable and at times devoid of ideas against the Broncos with the Dragons wasting a mountain of possession as they struggled to get over the line.

With the Dragons having recruited former Manly under 20s halfback Josh Drinkwater in the off-season, Fien admits the pressure is on to perform or perish.

"The halves live and die by the sword, it all goes on the result and obviously the first two haven't gone our way," Fien said.

"The halves are generally responsible."

"That's 0-2 now, a few missed opportunities out there tonight.

"I thought the first half we built some pressure nicely but we just weren't able to execute.

"We're just missing the mark at the moment."

And the first signs that the frustration is spilling over were on show at WIN Stadium on Friday night.

Weyman, who played just 28 minutes in which he produced 25 tackles and six runs for 47 metres, gesticulated with his hands in frustration towards the coach's box when he was hauled from the field late in the game.

Price too is feeling the pressure as he fights for a job which was offered to Melbourne's Craig Bellamy during the off-season, but Weyman played down the sideline incident.

"It's just the result - no-one likes losing," Weyman said.

"It's frustrating, not the result we wanted but the beauty about rugby league is there's next week and we get to move on."

Price admitted he would head out to Leichhardt Oval on Saturday to monitor the performance of Drinkwater in the NSW Cup against Canterbury before deciding on any chances for next week's trip to Canberra."

Sounds like everyone is agreeing as to where the problem lies within the team. Can the players and the coach fix it??

Fien is not the problem here seriously. It's the other guy. I honestly believe Fien plays his guts out and the main thing is he puts his body on the line. He did set up the try for Creagh or Merrin can't remember.

He is not the solution either as well as his defence which can be very poor at times although it's not helped by defending next to Stanley which is a recipe for disaster.

It was neither. Weyman ran onto the pass. It was pretty straight forward, Broncos defence was well spaced. Everyone knew it was Weyman, not having a go but did you see it?

Easy to have a story written in some news paper telling everyone what they already know.

Seems the common theme these days to talk more than act on something better off doing the talking on the field than off it.

Why the f**k would you give our best prop only 28 minutes?

Weyman looked a little tentative at times. His try was full on, and I thought 'he's back'. But later in the match he had a bo-peep when he dropped the ball. Just needs more time.

i am not concerned with Weyman only getting 28 minutes.. we do need to nurse him back to full match fitness after his injury... HOWEVER the big problem is that Price took him off when Weyman was still going strongly.. which resulted in Weyman's gesture to the coaches box..

Price demonstrating that he has learnt NOTHING from last season.. one of the things i was critical with Price last season was his use of the interchange and sticking to a rotation plan that was conceived before the match no matter how the game was unfolding... this was another demonstration of that.. Weyman was going strong and should have been left on. Price needs to coach what he sees on the field a lot more, not what he had written in his notes book the week before the game..

no one is doubting whether or not Fien is giving 100%, however his skillset simply isnt up to it.
To say Fien is not part of the problem is crazy.

I'm a huge Fein fan, but time has caught up with him and he's just too slow for half back. As has already been said numerous times, maybe King to the halves and Fein to hooker/ bench position.

Price seems to have pre-concieved ideas about the game. He doesn't seem to be able to, or want to, change his plans if it is needed. "The plan is the plan, do not change it".
