Not meaning to be overly disrespectful to either club, but am I the only one a tad disappointed that possibly the biggest ever TV audience for a Rugby League game, the showpiece game that we're using to market our game to the american sporting public in a massive way, is going to be played between the Warriors and freakin' Canberra?
I suspect the thinking behind it is that Canberra is Australia's capital city, thus more known than a suburb within Sydney. And New Zealand is an entire country, thus also more recognisable to the american audience.

I'd suggest a matchup of two ball-playing teams, relatively evenly matched, representing places the american people are likely to have heard of would be Sydney and Brisbane ... however they were in Vegas this year, so they're out.
Possibly a better match up for the prime time game would have been Panthers V Warriors. The Raiders don't have any players that can get the crowd to thier feet.

But as others have said, it doesn't matter who plays just so long as it's open, fast, and with a couple of big hits.

Sounds a great way to pss away even more of the games money
I doubt the NRL would pay Snoop Dogg 500k a day as is rumoured he's been paid to be seen at the Olympics, but it can't be denied he's getting the games plenty of attention.

Instead of wasting money on sending players over in December or having billboards in Times Square, the NRL could spend that money where it would actually get the games some attention, having someone seen in the crowd with millions of followers like Lil Wayne, Drake, Kelce, Rogan, Paul, Bones Jones, Mayweather. would actually help the NRL reach that 1% its chasing.

Las Vegas 2025 as of 3:30pm EST 19/08/24

I created a model last year to keep an eye on ticket sales. Will give an update when it's clearer which tickets are being held back from sale for travel packages, etc.

I got a stadium breakdown of roughly:
Level 1 = 27,000
Level 2 = 8,000
Level 3 = 13,500
Level 4 = 10,500

Corporates = 6,000

Very basic estimate - based off level 2 actually being sold to this level, I'd say we're at 20k-30k Sold already. Took until the week of the event last year to shift level 2 in any real numbers.

By the looks with Travel packages, the default is a Silver category ticket. With upgrades to the above for different amounts. Judging by the available tickets, looks like they are selling Gold, Tryzone and Diamond concurrently between Travel packages and General sales. So what's sold in the map, is whats sold between both Travel packages and General Sales - so none held back apart from the tops of some bays.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume Elite experience hasn't sold out and they are being held back for Travel Packages and will be released to the public closer to the game, if there are any left. (Does have single seats available for public sale right now though, which is strange if they are holding back seats). If a large amount of these are sold, we could be at closer to 30k sold already. It would make sense, if you're already spending 5-20k to go over, you may as well pay the extra $398 for a good seat and all the trimmings at the actual event.

Caught a bit of the show on FoxSports about Vegas and they had nfl players at the ground and they were amazed at the game

Seemed more of a Fox Sports circle jerk than rugby league lol all they talked about was how amazing Fox was and how none of this would be possible without Fox

Would it be cool or lame if the Kiwi players in the Warriors did the Haka ?

The Seppos would love to see it.

The Aussie player's in the Wahs could stand behind it

Quick Vegas corp update.

All the Loge boxes are sold out east and west side. These are the fancy lounge seats sold in blocks of 4. Looking at some of my photos I think give or take there are 88 of these blocks. Raiders and NRL will be happy these are sold out so far ahead of time.

I notice they opened up Modelo club which I assumed was sold out like Credit one club which is on the eastern side of stadium. We had a box this year so got access to the Modelo club. If you have a bit of coin and are travelling that far I would advise getting tickets here. The lounge is fantastic to just go and chill in between games or even watch the games from. Well recommended it is very slick in Raiders colours.

For anybody looking for some great analysis of the Vegas experiment go to the ‘Everything Rugby League’ podcast and listen to the Bernie Gurr interview from about twenty minutes on. It mightn’t be what you want to hear though.

@emesssea "Well with zero recognition do you think most of us will know if youre sending us a premier matchup vs an also rans matchup?"

I think I said in an earlier post for anyone tempted to go who might do a bit of research before hand and see that these two teams hadn`t exactly set the world on fire over the last few decades.

"Someone joked that US fans might thing its the All Blacks, thats not too far fetched to think."

Saw that post and thought the same thing. All-Blacks or not, article in yesterday`s paper saying that 32% of tickets sold far had been bought by Kiwis. Cameron George Warriors` CEO said Kiwis were scrambling to find ways of getting there, a charter flight direct to LV sold out in 17 minutes, George also said they are expecting a large roll up pf Kiwi ex-pats living in the U.S, and they were determined to help fill the venue.

"As someone who is familiar with those teams, will I be watching them at 700 pm on my couch? You betcha. How often do I get to watch rugby league on primetime tv? They could have west tigers v west tigers and Id watch"

Good on you. By coincidence I was thinking of your user name the other day and how I hadn`t seen it for a while, it always intrigued me, what exactly does it mean ?
Warriors were a top 4 side when the sides were names so they earned it and it looks like they’re backing it with fan support. Raiders probably got a bit lucky, I’d say that the NRL likely didn’t want to send all the big draw cards at once so they picked one draw card team and one lower ranked team to go with last years winners.
